hey guys, i just got my xps not too long ago and have been looking for a good fps since. originally the first game that popped into my mind was UT3, but then i started reading into things and noticed that crysis was getting some pretty good reviews. my question is which of the games do u recommend?

    system specs (if it matters)
    t7250 (2.0 ghz)
    4 gb ram
    8600gt card
    200 gb 7200 sata

im also open to suggestions on other titles that may be out on the market (with the exception of r6v2 as i already have that for the 360)

    thanx in advance

    UT3 all the way.

Crysis is terrible online, and barely anyone plays.

In Crysis you get a singleplayer and multiplayer mode, though crysis online is terrible and lacks players in my opinion.

In UT3 you also get both, campaign is just a series of matches to show you the ropes, multiplayer is were its at in UT3.

Graphically both are impressive but Crysis wins hands down, gameplay wise I think you will enjoy UT3 more.

System wise UT3 will run much better compared to Crysis on your setup.

My vote goes to UT3, however demo's for both are available why don't you try em out ??

I just finished Crysis. What an annoying experience that was. Saves & terrible/cheating AI!!! But that's besides the point. Crysis=visually beautiful and fun environments; no replay value.

    Get UT3. Definitely.

UT3 is still my favorite game, unlimited replay value, great graphics and just plain addicting. Crysis is more of a novelty.

Also UT3 for me. I bought both, and I persevered with Crysis because of its beautiful scenic landscapes, but other than that, I just don't find it much fun, and besides, Your laptop (like mine) won't run it at its best, as it's without doubt the most graphically demanding game at the moment.

UT3 is good, fast, instant fun. Even in places where you don't have internet access, the Instant action mode is fun, and an added bonus on the portability scale is that after installing, you don't need the disc, even for single player.

Whenever I've got time to kill, it's UT3 for me, and I think you can pick it up fairly cheaply if you look around.

Just as an example, my Asus G1S (T7300, 8600MGT DDR3) plays it with everything on max, max resolution (1440 x 900), with an unquestionably smooth framerate, although it does occasionally pause momentarily on certain Vehicle CTF matches, but I don't play these on my laptop anyway.

I suppose the only downside to UT3 (If you could call it that !) is that after you've played it, when you return to other FPS's, like COD4, and especially Crysis, the gameplay just feels so slow in comparison because UT3 is so fast paced.

I'm gonna recommend Half Life 2 instead, if you haven't played it before. It's generally considered to be one of the best ever first person shooters.

We all know Half Life 2, is the Pwnage incarnated.

But, that is why he is asking, Crysis or UT3...

So my vote goes for UT3, its beautiful, from graphics to gameplay.
If you've been a fan since UT99, then... you know the drill..

Yea, Crysis looks sick, but I'd worry about having to waste time struggling to get Crysis to actual look great with its settings and to play well. Just get UT3... I guess...

i think we all generally agree UT3 > crysis.

i'd also like to toss in Call of Duty 4, if you haven't considered it. that game is just amazing. Personally I prefer the CoD4 graphics to crysis, and it definitely runs better at higher resolution and settings...

plus the game is approaching cinematic production value. (and sweet online multiplayer)... its a great buy.

Perhaps you missed the part where the topic creator said: "im also open to suggestions on other titles that may be out on the market"

You're right! I missed that too. So I'm gonna say Orange Box or Bioshock over both UT3 and Crysis!

Well, I recommend Alien vs. Predator 2, and CoD4
