when i took out my graphics card, i notice that one of those copper stripes that connects to the mother board is shorter than the others. a lil peice of it has been riped off near the end.( just a lil piece of it near the end of the stripe) will this decrease performance of the graphics card?
it still works but do u think it will decrease performance?

There is a very slight chance that if the card heats up that the damaged connector could conceivably expand and then no longer make a connection, but I think the possibility is extremely remote. If the card works, it will work. If the connection at that pin is not made, I suspect the card would simply stop working.
I very much doubt that you would see "decreased performance" - it will either be all or nothing.
But Im a software engineer, not a hardware engineer, so someone else may have more info. -
I would have to agree with you on that one. I also think that it would be all or nothing. I have definitely never heard of decreased performance in relation to a problem like the one you have encountered.

it will either work or it wont
OR
if your grubby hands touched the connectors, you can get dirt/dust/oil on it making it have a bad contact (good contact is important and thats why they use gold plated so it won't oxidize and create ****ty contact).
If you did dirty the connector, you can have more frequent crashes -
thx for the info. do you think it will still work if 1 or 2 whole stripe is riped off?

im gonna do it to my old GPU and see if it will still work. i dont want to do it to my 8600 GTS.
