    LOL you mean Dead Space?

I have it on my 5793 and I can maxed it out on 1920x1200 and get 60fps with minimal action and 30fps with like 7 monsters all coming at you at once.

The key is to turn off the vsync in the game options and turn it on in the nVidia control panel. Otherwise it will lock the whole game at 30fps.

Indeed. I'm getting close to max settings in 1440x900 with my 8600M GT. Finding the cojones to play it for more than an hour or so at a time - now that's a harder ask than the graphical quality.

It is easy on the gfx card, my game is running on 1280 widescreen with shadows and AA off and it runs on average 50-60 fps on-screen. Don't play on around 30 otherwise aiming becomes tricky and makes the game more frightening than it already is.

Lmfao. If you're scared, turn off the sound. If you want it to be more intense, play it with the lights off at 2AM and very loud. I bet you don't last 10 minutes.

Yeah you should hold 30. Just turn off all v-sync.

    I never drop below 60.

Game is mostly played within small rooms/locations. Nothing open like Oblivion or GTA, so most people should beable to max it out.

5930g here with 9600M GT - Maxed @1280x800 with AA on, but using the normal shadows. I get 40-60 fps.

    I have to agree.

Dead Space is a great game but F.E.A.R. is scarier. It's funny how a disgusting monster is not as scary as a little girl.

I'm almost finished with Dead Space and just reinstalled F.E.A.R. to get caught up again before F.E.A.R. 2 launches. One thing that Dead Space has over F.E.A.R. is that I believe it is harder.

Dead Space captivated me I sat there for 2 days and finished it begining to end. F.E.A.R. I have tried to play on 4 occasions and not once did I finish it. Same with Doom 3.

It did something much better than the other games, also I like the newgame + type thing it has so about to start a re-play game.

Performance is awesome with vsync off my desktop runs 170fps or so with it maxed out completely 1920x1080.

I will give FEAR another shot at some point, but Doom 3 I do not think I will, as I just do not like it as much as the old doom games and I hate getting lost wandering around for too long.

dead space is not that scary. there are a few parts that are kinda scary but is nothing compared to F.E.A.R. dead space is proably the most underrated game of 2008. don't get me started on doom 3. it sucks and isn't scary at all.

Doom 3 just uses suspense to make you jump, thats not really the same thing as scary. Scary is more of what FEAR does with its story line & plot development.

Though nothing has ever made me jump more than Doom 64 :p low on health and ammo, running around and I can hear one of those demons close to me... suddenly BAM right in my face pops up one of those invisible demons. Man those were the good ol' days. Id absolutely love a doom 64 release for PC. I actually did have it on an emulator once upon a time, but I lost all my files somehow.

Yeah, I totally agree with you guys. Doom 3 just make you jump most of the time. I remember playing it through for the first time. But, FEAR is scary because of the story like you said. I really like FEAR though becuase of the gameplay, it's smooth. I really hope that FEAR 2's story line is better and scarier.

how does fear look visually? Is it worth going back and playing if you are shallow and need eye candy?

Its not a bad looking game, its no Crysis but it has good lighting effects and nice tight polygons. Just not much in the way of color/varity but that is how the game is designed not a flaw necessarily.
