yes indeed, I like this game a lot :)

also runs very nice on my laptop at 1024x768 with no AS and no vertical synchronization :) (overclocked GPU though)

Q: is the a movie when the game starts? .. because mine jumps streight to the menus, and when I select new game a movie plays, but not before that.

    Electronic Arts FTW :D

Have to agree there, it is a very nice game indeed, specially with buddies, you can just laugh with the ingame commands while killing zombies... makes you look like a maniac... or even laugh when they kill one of your buddies xD! so funny...

No movie before the game menu.

I also like the game. But I do find the tight over-the-shoulder camera to be annoying.

Uh, Ben....you're referring to Left 4 Dead (<3 @ L4D). This thread is about Dead Space. ;)

There's a animated sequence showing off the various monsters (and deaths) if you leave the main menu screen on its own for 1-2 minutes and let it run.

Yeah I have to agree, dead space is a good game. Oh and don't forget to turn off v-sync in the in game menu, and turn it on using your GPU control panel.

That gets rid of the mouse lag and tearing problem ;)

It's a scary game. I had to look away from the screen at times. The ending cutscene was just scary (when Isaac dies after escaping the colony).

Disable it in game, and then download Riva Tuner and use the D3D Overider Tool to turn it back on. Keep your V-Sync but fix the game problem. Thats how I play and its the only way to play. It becomes more important on a high end system due to it being prone to tearing or running too many FPS.

Suddenly I'm not as excited about finishing this game. You might want to remove the spoiler before you ruin it for anyone else.

Yeah, same here. W T F? Like giving away the ending to the Sixth Sense (which happened to me). Movie was definitely not that fun afterwards.

    ROFL!

    oh well

I enjoyed DeadSpace as well xD, I have L4D all over me, all my games are L4D now xD!

Deadspace for me: has nice graphics, kinda cool story... (the animated movie that tells the story before the game cleared up lots of stuff for me, since I havent even read teh comics >.>)

Tis your average survival-horror game, at the beginning you get scared easily @ all aliens, but later on you get confident :p... though i hated that
    regenerator alien
    part -__-''

its a really cool game, and i'd recommend it to anyone... who wants a resident evil hold back (if you dont own a ps3 or 360, and hopes that re5 will come to pc), even those who want just to create a mood in your room to play deadspace @ night ONLY! (for psychological purposes of getting "into the game" lol)

    I haven't gone a 2nd time through it... Playing deadspace makes me want to just play L4D... :p <3 @ L4D

Really good game, what an atmosphere. An it runs perfect on my x1600!
I have to say though, I think they could have improved the gameplay, I mean that the character is not so easy to move as in a regular FPS, it's just not so agile.

Hey Miro, I just joined this forum to send you a quick note about an older post of yours (sorry, couldn't find a way to send you a separate note cuz you have no contact info in your profile). You were having issues with bluetooth icons on your Thinkpad after reinstalling XP. I had a similar issue and found this: http://support.microsoft.com/?id=840635
The MS drivers appear to be interfering with IBM's/Lenovo's... just disable the MS ones or "update" them and hopefully that will work. Cheers.

    hey thanks.

I believe I've solved that issue long time ago by just not installing MS drivers for the bluetooth. Then I just install the lenovos driver and that's about it.

I dont use the BT that much though. Just once I've connected to my cellphone, and it does connect, but then I didn't know what to do (after the device is paired). I wanted to download pictures that I've taken with the cellphone .. lol.

    but thanks anyways :)

    back to the game

    - I just went down on the planet, so I expect some big final fight with whatever is on there.

so what does that marker do? Does it help in locating the planet in space ? The device that was taken from the center of the planet controls the collony telepathicly and was left there so that others cant find it, as far as I could tell.

Watch the video logs and text files which detail the story again, it should be quite clear by the end of the game what that marker does. If you're still mistaken or don't completely understand, finish the game once and read the last 5 backstory logs.

Just got this, and be forewarned--I am a beginning gamer--

My question: How do I get a gun at the beginning? LOL...The whole over the shoulder view messes with me (FPS fanboy), and I can't run away smoothly. So, yeah, where is there a gun? I NEED a GUN!!!

    Thanks for any advice...

I got this as a test for my Studio XPS, and it didn't even flinch (yet). Settings at default, but I only tested it once. Still setting all of my games up, so I haven't really tweaked around with any of them much...

You'll get one in one of the starting areas automatically, just keep moving along with the story and you'll see it. It'll be obvious which area it is since one area will refuse to let you pass until you've picked up your first weapon.

Thanks...So, just try not to get killed before I get a gun...am I supposed to be able to find one before I get into the control console room? Cause that's where the alien-things really Fd me up quick...

Funny how gamers these days forget one of the basic maxims of life: if you can't beat it run away to fight another day. Just follow the advice above until you've run far enough to earn safety and things should go smoothly from there.

I finished it :D ... beat the thing at the end on the 6th time I think, lol.

I played the whole game on medium difficulty, took me 18 hours to go over all missions. Or a week of play.

    nice game though :D

much better than Fallout 3 I'd say.

Problem is when the controls and camera view suck, it's hard to run away when you keep getting stuck or can't move where you want to go. I've tried to play the game several times but that camera view completely bothers me. I can't get used to it, and it makes the game unplayable for me.

Old thread, but I just finished it. Amazing atmosphere, great story, the ending was nice though somewhat expected. The big letdown for me was the complete joke for boss fights - too easy. I beat all in a single attempt, which is rare for me. Actually, Mercer's specials were far more challenging, if you consider them bosses or mini-bosses. I suppose part of the problem is that they all wear large signs saying "shoot here".

lol, there was a girl that wanted to see what game I was playing at the time, so we sat for like 30 min or so with me playing (two sets headphones). It was late, so she was about to run through the food store before she went home, so before going out she asked: "is it scary in your Kroger" ... lol

game was good, highly recommend it :D
