I've read countless posts on the geforce 7400 model, none clarifying exactly what models and flavors if it are.
I've seen the following mentioned
128mb
256mb
64mb + 64 HM (128)
128mb + 384 HM (512)
I ordered a dv5000t with a "geforce 7400 128mb" option. How much dedicated memory does this card actually have ? have I been hoodwinked ? does it only have 32 or 64mb ?? or is it the 128 + 384 one?
My other side question is, hp offers a 256mb 7400 on other models (17", the new dv6000). Is this really an improvement ? is this a 128 + 128 deal ?
I'm utterly confused, and there are about 200 posts about the 7400 and they seem to muddy the issue more than address it.

The GeForce Go7400 in the dv5000t has 128MB of dedicated memory as far as I know. There are no 256MB dedicated versions of the Go7400. It's either 128MB + 128MB or 64MB + 64MB (dedicated/shared).
Go7400 is not powerful enough to make use of 256MB of RAM, so no it does not help. The only thing it really does is make it look more appealing on paper. -
Half shared and half stolen from RAM. 128MB+128MB=256MB.

thanks for the clarification, I feel a lot better knowing I have 128 dedicated
