desktop display problem

i have this weird problem on my laptop. While i was playing Counter-Strike Source it's froze all of a sudden, so i turn off my laptop by pressing the power button and restarted that way. After loading into windows, my desktop was completely black, all i can see is the arrow of my mouse. I tried clicking around and it seem i can open some program, but the whole screen is still completely black. I restarted my pc many times but no luck. so i think there's something wrong with my graphic card or desktop display. I've tried to look a DVD movie with Dell's MediaDirect and everything looks fine. I dont really know how to fix this, so i hope that someone here can help me out on this.

Did you try booting in safe mode?

If so, does the display work there?

It so, try un-installing and reinstalling your graphics drivers if it still doesnt work in regular XP boot (Not Safe Mode).

 

woohoo!! it's back to normal again! i re-installed my gpu driver in safe-mode. Everything looks normal now, i think. but i wonder wut had trigger this problem though. I wonder if it'll happen again... anyway! thanks alot for ur help!
