I had been running 64-bit windows 7 on my computer before with diablo 2 working fine, but decided to go back to vista. after installing both diablo 2 and the expansion, i tried playing it only to find that nothing would come up when i tried to play. When i went to the video test, it said no video modes were detected, even though i have the most recent official drivers for my graphics card installed and after installing directx 10 off the microsoft website.

the laptop is 14.1" Thinkpad R61 with nVidia Quadro 140M. The graphics driver is the official one off Lenovo's website, which is 7.15.11.7693

(the website for the drivers is here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67939)

    any suggestions?

Try running it in compatibility mode. My brother played on Vista 64 so it should work.

From what i know, Diablo does not support 64 bit all the time you have to do something online, the reason, if you go to the options in the ingame menu, it only shows up 16 bit and 32 bit.

when you guys installed diablo 2 and ran the video test, were any video modes found, or were they found after installing the update? the problem i'm having is no matter how i run the video test, it says that no video modes were found.

    try a new driver?

No issues with D2 1.12 and Vista SP2 64-bit ultimate, with Dox 185.85.

hm...another odd thing, i decided to try out starcraft to see if i could play that. When i installed, everything was going good. when i decided to play, however, it was as if i was playing in linux through wine, i.e. starting from the left top corner, the game takes up 800x600, and the rest of the screen is black. i thought it might be a driver issue, so i uninstalled the driver and let windows install the first one if found via windows update (175.97), any ideas as to why this is happening?

You need to disable 1:1 mapping on your screen. If you're using an external monitor, it should be in the settings menu of the monitor's firmware. If you're on a laptop, it should be a setting in the nVidia Control Panel/nView.
