Sorry if this is a repeat, I tried searching for stuff already but couldn't find anything. I hear that disabling directx 10 increases performance in unreal engine 3 games, and I was wondering how I could go about disabling this in UT3. I know Bioshock has an option in its video menu, but UT doesnt appear to. Thanks for any help.

    Try this...

In the Games Explorer, there should be a shortcut for UT3. Right Click the shortcut and see if there are two option available(Play DX10 or Play DX9). Depending on what you want to play, choose that one.

add -dx9 to the end of your UT3 shortcut. And also a game like Bioshock when played in Vista automatically starts in DX10 mode regardless if the features are selected or not so it's wise to turn it off manually.

And of course you have the DX9 or DX10 option in the games explorer, it's standard practise in Vista. So either you were looking in the wrong place or you aren't using Vista. I the case where you aren't using Vista, you don't have to worry about DX10 at all.

To have tried them both on my machine on the demo, the difference is pretty inexistant.

It won't allow you to increase any settings
