My laptop has VGA out and a HDMI connector on the back. Could I use this to drive 2 monitors. Like run the hdmi to drive one monitor and the vga to drive the other monitor and close the lid of the laptop.

Has anyone done this or is anyone running duel displays off thier laptop that can explain how they did it. I just want to tuck the laptop under the desk and run duel monitors.

fyi my video adapter is a 1 gb NVidia 9650 GT and the laptop is an Asus n80.

AFAIK, no laptop card available can drive more than one external monitor at a time.

thanks surfasb. I was also looking at these as a cheaper solution.

    USB to DVI adapter

In the end though I may end up with what you posted. the triple head. I need to drive 2 external monitors + a wacom cintiq. so technically 3.

Yeah, triple head to go seems to work fairly well. For the USB to DVI, don't expect it to drive 3D games, the throughput isn't nearly enough for that.

Ah! The USB to DVI solution. I keep forgetting about those. A good alternative.

Ummm, no. My Toshiba M700 is able to output to 2 monitors through it's dock (which is not using any USB magic to create the display) and all with an Intel x3100 adapter. Link to thread HERE (TPCR).

Does using an external monitor to play games lower your fps when its a bigger screen? Recently they started selling those samsung monitors for laptops so I was wondering how cod4 would run on them since those monitors got way better resolution.

The higher resolution of your external display will lower your fps. Otherwise, no.
