I hear that the audio is really good for dead space. Do you need a good sound system? Would 2 speakers be enough or do you need at least a 2.1 sound system?

I played the game at my friend's house on his PS3 using the speakers built into the TV. Sounded pretty good but then again, I'm not an audiophile. What I would recommend for a game like Dead Space is this: some nice headphones, noise canceling if possible. When I play "scary" like F.E.A.R. I try to do so in a room lit by my screen with a nice set of headphones for the best immersion.

yeah headphones work, but having headphones always on is bad for the ears. Plus, to me, I like listening without headphones unless I absolutely have to.

I'm just wondering if 2 normal speakers (not laptop speakers) will be good enough.

Two normal speakers should work just fine.

I would always try and get a 2.1 set just because it makes them more versatile.

I played this game at a friends house for the first time on his PC with weak 2.1 speakers - the audio ended up playing a very small role. Then went out and bought it. Started playing at 11pm and went all the way though the night. Remember the days when you thought DOOM3 with lights out on 5.1 is scary? Forget it, this game utilizes its audio to scare you to death if you have a proper system set up, it ultimately completes the immersive experience. I jumped in my chair quite a lot :) :) :)
