Yeah they do. In december they had an ATi X1950 XT which went into an alienware laptop.

It's not an X1950XT, but a Mobility X1900. It performed slightly above go7900GS.

ATI was pretty awesome with their Mobile Radeon 9800 back in the day. I don't feel Nvidia had anything to compete with that card. Up to the ATI x800m, ATI was keeping up relatively well. After that, they started to lag behind. With their recent AMD/ATI merger, things have gotten muddled and delayed and their video cards (especially mobile ones) have suffered as a result.

As of this moment, ATI has the x1900 that is supposed to compete with the 7900 series. In reality, once you hit 7950gtx levels, Nvidia holds all of the cards.

All we can hope is that ATI/AMD get their butts in gear and either soup up the HD2XXX line of cards or get started on a freakin sweet HD3XXX line.

It's not better than a go7950GTX, is it? I know that the one in the HP HDX is better than a 8700M GT, but I can't remember exact numbers.

Doubt it, just listen to the name of their mobile graphics, the "ATI mobility" it sounds handicapped, reminds me of a wheelchair or zimmerframe.

They haven't really been up to par since the 9xxx days. X8xx were late to market i believe X18xx/X19xx were loud and hot and mine broke, HD28xx don't compete with nvidias offering very well at all.

x19xx trumped nVidias offering. X1950XTX was the fastest single card until the release of 8800gtx. With the exception of 7950GX2, but that's not a real single card.

Or, they've given up the high end market and aim to take over the lucrative mainstream and lowend markets.

Wait, I thought we were still talking about mobile cards? And the MR X1900 wasn't a bad card, it just wasn't widely released, and when it was it was largely dismissed due to it's poor benchmarks.

Well, if you're looking desktops, the HD 2900 XT performs better than the 8800 GTS and in some games, it performs even better than the 8800GTX.( Note: SOME, NOT ALL)

Indeed it does, and if it weren't for the extra heat output and power usage, the HD 2900 XT would probably be selling just a bit better right now. I'm an ATI fan in Nvidia hardware. In other words, I root for them while using an Nvidia 8600m GT.

That's the whole point of why it's not selling as well as Ati would like - it's too unpredictable, aceing some games and totally crashing and dying on others. I'd rather have the reliability of a consistant 8800 - which I do :)

That's because the niche for such products are apparently deemed unprofitable by ATI. Everyone has their own ups and downs. Remember the time when Nvidia launched their Geforce 5 FX series? It was a complete disaster. ATI's Radeon 9700 was more than good enough to butcher Nvidia's high-end 5800 and 5900. They were completely helpless against the Radeon 9800XT.

Meh. I wish ATI would launch their All-In-One Radeon line again. My dad still has his All-In-Wonder Radeon 9800 on his PC and I use to capture videos all the time. Who needs Canopus and Matrox if you have the All-In-Wonder Radeons?! ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon HD 2900XTX. Oooh... I... want... one!!! I wish there was actually one... :(

I have one question for you. Do you even know why I use the All-In-Wonder Radeon 9800 on my dad's PC and why I want one if they ever re-release it based on their new R600 architecture? Obviously, you don't. The AIW Radeon series offers superior image capturing (ATI always had better image quality anyway) and FYI, my Geforce Go 6600 can't do that -- act as a decent capturing device. Go figure. They don't call it "All-In-Wonder" for nothing. And even with a capture dongle, the quality still won't match that taken by the AIW Radeon simply because my GF Go 6600 doesn't process the captured video directly, it's the damn capture dongle. And for the record, your question actually didn't make sense. Go read my previous post again and think. You obviously posted without thinking about what you're going to post.

Fix your posts BTW. I've been noticing you posting many odd and relatively useless things.
