is there any games that actually multi threaded or do most games just have 1 core dedicated to the game and the other for background apps? i just dont understand, dual core processors have been out for a long time and game designers havent utilized that technology? maybe im just that far behind. responses would be appreciated. :D

    Yes, there are.
Here is a list (some are multi-threaded natively, others get the dual core support through a patch):

    Battlefield 2

    Battlefield 2: Special Forces

    Black & White 2

    Call of Duty 2

    City of Villains

    F.E.A.R.

    Peter Jackson’s King Kong

    Quake 4

    Serious Sam 2

    The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

    The Movies

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter

    Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six 3

    Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland

    Vanguard Saga of Heros

    World of Warcraft

Supreme Commander thrives on dual-core and quad-core processors.

Newer versions of Half Life 2 (like Episode I and the upcoming Episode II) are also supposed to run better with multicore processors.
