Today a customer approached me while i was doing a visit at a retail store that i oversee and complained that my sales associates had no idea what they were talking about (argueable at times). He said that the associate told him he could not use a laptop as a computer monitor, and that he had no knowledge of a third-party hardware solution to do this. I told the customer that this was correct as far as i knew, and blah blah blah... make customer happy words.. so here is my question, is there actually a way to do this? ive never seen it or seen a product to do this. The only thing i could think of was some sort of expresscard, tv tuner like device that someone may have come up with. THanks for your help.

errr im not too sure, perhaps someone else can help you, you can always hook up laptops to other monitors, im not sure what the point of hooking a computer up to a laptop monitor would be.... the reason for the other is picture quality....

I don't see how you could hook up a desktop to a latop moniter unless you had a VGA or DVI input on your laptop which I have never seen.

haha, maybe not a dumb question but a dumb person who originally asked it. My thought was that maybe someone made a vga input card or somthing. I suppose it makes a ton of sense if you are a college student. This way you could bring your tower and laptop nad have only one monitor. It would be sweet if someone made such a thing but im pretty sure no one has.

he said he wants to hook his tower up to it because the card in his tower allows dual monitors. Kind of a cool idea, i just don't think its possible.

well...since I can get live input via USB from my digital SLR...it must be possible to display other video input from other sources via software...

i don't think many (if any) video cards would support it but what about a male to male VGA cable?
