    eeek video card problem

    hi guys i tryed to attach my laptop to my t.v. to play some css in high def big screen... i dont know why but i couldnt get it to display a picture... i have done it before on my desktop so i know the t.v. is capable of doing it but for some reason it only came up as a really staticy picture with lines and bars and all in black and white. i checked it 3 times and had my friend check it and we cant figure out why it wont work... do you thingk i have a bad port on my video card? and i know my monitor plug works just not sure about my s-video. i didnt use the same cable as i did on my desktop but it was a new one and still in pakaging... what do you think the problem is?

    are you sure your tv was on the right channel? it's hard to tell by your description but are you using a different "type" of connection from laptop as opposed to your tv? if so, then maybe your on wrong channel to recieve input from your laptop.

    right. Make sure your tv is on the right input, there should be a button on the remote to flip through the scarts and composite etc.

    Also, which drivers are you using?

    If you're using an S-video cable, then that's your problem. S-video does not support HD resolutions, so pushing anything over 640x480 will not produce a clear picture. Also, S-video does not do progressive scan, only interlaced. See this article for more info: http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/howto-av.html

    so bassically i wont beable to do anything with it? cause it worked on my desktop before though... and i think i ran in like 1024x768 it didnt look high def... but it was on the same t.v.


    and just so every one knows i did check and it was on the right input because all of them are labeled... as well as i went thew all the inputs just to double check... i also had my second resolution at like 800x600
