    hey guys

ive been having nightmares since i first got empire totalwar installed on the notebook in my sig....
every other game i play have absolutely no problems at all and although i understand E:TW is very demaining my notebook should do ok with it.
i keep on getting either a crash/load screen reload(ie it loads and then screen goes white then reloads again and again) or i get a 'could not find driver/ drivers have reinstalled successfully' message.
i have searched online and have found that there are some issues with nVidia later GPU's and this game, so was just wondering if anyone had had difficulties running the game and if they have found any solutions or specific drivers that work better than others.
im currently using nvidia geforce drivers 186.03
i would really like to be able to run this game and any suggestions would be really appreciated, do i need to adjust setting in Nvidia control panel? basically im open to any suggestions
    thanks a bunch

could it be that your copy of the game is not updated to the latest?
it is the game crashing, not the computer?

does this happen in other games?

you can try another forum of TW fans...

they may be better suited to help if it is a game issue.

It should run fine for you based on your hardware. I've got an MSI GT 725 and the game runs great on it.

Unfortunately I've got a Radeon 4850 on my machine so I can't help much with the drivers.

I would guess it's a driver issue though since the 260M and 4850 are pretty much equivalent and it runs very smoothly on the 4850.

Thanks for the link ill try there as well, at first i thought it might be my notebook but every other game (and play i lot) runs perfectly fine, so im guessing its a issue with the GTX260m drivers and the game itself. When i installed the game via steam it automatically updates it to the latest version, so im fairly sure the game is up to date.

Yeah i was expecting the game to at least run well on high settings but as of yet i havent really had a chance to try it out, im nearly sure its driver related but im just not sure which drivers to use...

That particular file is probably corrupted. It happened to me when I installed it. Just find the directory it is installed in, find someone else who's copy works, copy the file and insert it before reinstalling. The other thing that could happen is that either your computer or your graphics card can't handle the game. I have an old computer at home and a new gaming one and I regularly have that problem between them. Just make sure its not a hardware problem before playing with the software.

    Hey, welcome to the forums.
What particlar file are you talking about? Ive installed, uninstalled three times and have experienced the same problem.
Im nearly postive that although my notebook wont be able to run the game at max settings it should handle the game on high settings ok......
