Can you recommend software to have installed to enhance the gaming experience?

I mean programs such as those that shutdown every program or process not needed, or anything else every gamer should have installed (besides games themselves).

    thanks.

I know that ESIV: Oblivion has had a program written for it which smooths out FPS a lot, you can add your own parameters like target min. and max. fps. Its called Streamline and its worked wonders for me on my Q210 :D

    Heres a helpful linky, here

Vmware Workstation or other Virtual Machine environments to allow you to play games that absolutely refuse to work on anything other than old Operating Systems or where patches or compatibility modes simply do not work.
