It's a good game. Well worth $10 even without the DLC. I thought it was a much better and more immersive game than Fallout 3, and it fixed and improved upon a lot of things from FO3.

Darn, I was hoping Fallout 3 for PC would be up there, too :( I don't think I could buy both games, though, even if New Vegas is only $10.

Nevertheless, good post. + rep power

Do you know if the patches took care of all the myriad of bugs and glitches?

Looks like it is. Thanks for the info.

It is funny when they mention the amount of quest fixes, they may've written 90% quest fix :p

I haven't had any notable issues since the last several patches. And there are a few community-made fixes available on places like New Vegas Nexus for stuff that the official patches may have left out.

Fallout: New Vegas is a sequel to Fallout 3.

I've played both twice, both are very good. Though Fallout 3 will stand out a little compared to New Vegas. Graphics are nice and not demanding. I've played New Vegas on Ultra setting with my G73SW without even OC'ing at 1080p..

I had a bug with New Vegas, it's Windows 7 related. There were times that the saved games doesn't want to load. The trick was to load the menu twice, quit on first load the game on 2nd.

It has no issues with Windows XP though.. I also played Fallout Tactics, also a very good rpg game. Fallout 3 was the sequel to it. This franchise is awesome.

I wouldn't call NV a direct sequel to FO3...they're in completely different settings with mostly unrelated characters, and developed by different studios. Between the two, I thought New Vegas was more polished and easy to get into than Fallout 3, though of course that's a matter of personal preference.

I never had that bug, and I play on Windows 7 64-bit.

I dunno...there were really only two ways to end FO3. In NV there are 4 different factions you can side with, and there are multiple ending paths with each of those factions; there's something for everyone.

See, that's what I liked about games such as Mercenaries for the Xbox. I know this game is considered "old" by some, but I'll use the spoiler tags just in case:

You didn't have to be friends with all the factions and that eventually led to who controlled North Korea.

But for Fallout 3 I did in the game what I would probably have done in reality. For example:

I added the virus to the water purifier.

Even though New Vegas employs that type of gameplay, I played Fallout 3 first and I couldn't play anything like it so soon.

Is New Vegas a standalone or do you need the original?

While I greatly enjoyed both FO3, and NV, I have to be honest and admit that all the bugs that Obsidian let out the door, REALLY pissed me off. They seem to have a track record of that, and for whatever reason, I kind of take that as a personal insult to all of us.

I wonder if Bethesda's people had any words with them since I've read that they were the ones doing the bug squashing after NV's release?

It's annoying, but I understand. Playtesting with a couple dozen people isn't going to find nearly as many bugs in as little time as thousands of actual customers once the game is released.

While I normally agree with this kind of statements (which doesn't mean it is correct for the companies to do that, the previous generation of consoles didn't had any system patching yet there were very few bugs at all in released games) I can't do it with Obsidian. They were basically loading new textures, buidlings, maps, and scripts. Everything else (the engine) was Bethesda's work. I find it unbelievable they could've released a game with so many bugs and glitches. But I guess if we look at their track record it is not difficult to understand.

Anyways, I felt the need to point that out. It is good to hear the game seems to be patched (officially or otherwise), and the price is very good for anyone with the money and will to go back to the Fallout world.
