Hey i recently got a lenovo y560 and it is perfect.....Almost<<<
i like to play some light games using the intel hd (integrated graphics on the i5 chipset) on battery and on low detail games like fallout 3 and l4d2 run like 30fps but ive tried 3 seperate java games and they run at 8fps??
I got on my 6 year old comp (pentium 4, fx5200) and these same java games run at 30fps easy.
Also when switching to the ati 5730 they run like 200 fps so i know they are able to use the graphics card not just processor.
So does anyone know why these are like that, one of the games allowed using either open gl or directx but neither increased frame rate, thanks

Not sure, but I have a similar experience. I can run most games at low-to-medium details on my system, but for some reason Plants vs Zombies runs really poorly on it. For the most part, it runs okay, but on the load out screen where it shows which zombies you'll be facing and the plants to choose from, the game takes a huge dive in performance.

what i would try is updating java or erase and install the newest version. do you have the same problems with flash?
it might also be that the game your trying to play uses a specific feature your integrated gpu does not support. hell it might be that the game has not idea what your gpu is and just skips it? -
Maybe the Java support for Intel HD IGPs is horrible?

I have the latest version of java, im also beginning to think that the support for intel hd on java is like nonexistent and its doing everything on my processor alone, but still its only using like 10% of processing power.
Also flash runs perfetly, i can play 1080p youtube videos on the intel hd perfectly fine/smoothly.
Ive tried to look for updated intel hd drivers but since this laptop has switchable graphics (5730>>>intel hd) it seems hard to find drivers that support that.
fallout 3, 30fps yet simple java games 8fps...wth
