the deals and discounts over at fastcdkeys.com look real good.
i checked out a few reviews and they generally got an 8/10 and they seem legit.
one website says the site is us based but its real location is hidden.

so safe? has anyone ever purchased from them? any notable issues?

Well, I'm a bit more of a cynic than I should be, so my first thought is; is your post a genuine user question or a brilliant site plug ;) j/king

I haven't purchased from them, but they take PayPal and that's the only way I would pay an unknown to me website. Their FAQ tells a good story.

Word gets out and we might have an embarrassment of riches, at least I won't have the payment issues of GoG and the Russian one, so thanks for the heads up. Buy something and let us know, cheers!

    yup its a legit q.
i buy stuff from amazon, gmg and gog. never had issues with any of them.
fastcdkeys seems to have the best prices with some newer games.
i would actually try buying thru them except that ive already bought everything i want atm.
their grid 2 sale looks tempting but im not really a racing game kinda guy.

I'm not sure about them... I've never tried them. The only good site I know of (who've had my business since 2010 up till this year) is directgamekeys.com so they're all I can recommend. They also have good deals and let you know if a key is Russian or not etc.

I'd look at CheapShark for deals (I've also used cdkeyhouse, but I'd still go with the CheapShark sites first as they're all completely legit).

hmm, very tempting price for Grid 2.... my biggest fear with these Key sites is I read horror stories of Steam accounts getting banned for using illegal keys. No idea how true this is but it's always kept me away.

I can guarantee that keys from directgamekeys don't ban steam accounts at all. I believe when they say illegal keys is when keys/products are discovered to be stolen (I.E. for example, a store selling game X gets a report from a customer that the key is already in use; the key's reported stolen and the account using it is targeted) but that doesn't really happen too often in my experience. Never happened to me or any of my friends.

Wasn't there a similar issue with greenmangaming a couple of years back?
But I think they rectified the situation and are one of the better providers atm

Greenmangaming I use all the time with great results and have never had a problem... highly recommend, but they don't have the crazy cheap prices the Key sites have.... but good sales none the less

Good to know, even more tempting now... they are just SO much cheaper than everyone else it's the old too good to be true ha

I'm not aware of any major incidents or particular issues, but it is true that they've had a few glitches (although, as they are an authorized reseller, things are normally dealt with quickly and without too much of a hassle - and that's saying something considering we're talking about Steam and its horrible, almost non-existent customer service).

Actually, given the nature of Steam, you cannot guarantee anything of the kind. At best you can say that you've not had any issues, and even that, due to the fact that Valve uses delayed bans and audits, might not be true. I'm not saying that the site will get your account banned, but saying that it will not is more than a bit irresponsible unless you work for Valve and are in a position to know with absolute certainly that using the site will have no consequences.

You are both correct and incorrect, while this does happen on occasion 'illegal keys' on Steam are more likely to have been stolen outright, e.g. a box 'falls off the truck', or be purchased with stolen credit card information. The latter is why you never want to buy a gift from a stranger or, for that matter, randomly accept gifts (if the gift is found to have been purchased through fraud then your account has a high risk of getting banned). Keys are less likely to have been bought in that manner and more likely to be stolen outright, so if something happens with one of those it's usually removed from the account (although, in some cases, entire accounts have been banned).

Legitimate 'greymarket' keys often come from regions where the local prices are much lower than those normally found within the US and some parts of the EU. While some have locked IP-ranges and require a VPN to activate, something that can get your account in trouble -at a minimum the game could be removed-, others are region-free and can be activated anywhere without issue (though, even then, there can be quirks such as the copies not having English as a native dialogue option unless you use a third-party mod/tool to add it). While not illegal keys per se, these can sometimes be considered a violation of the TOS and lead to revoked games and, in rare cases, locked ot banned accounts.

Depending on the site, that is a very legitimate fear - you should exercise caution when buying keys and always look the gift horse in the mouth to see what the catch is (sometimes it's a truly good deal, other times it's a dangerous gamble - it all depends on the site).

Anyways, it is getting late and I've got to get up in the morning - if you have more questions, or any comments about what I wrote, feel free to reply and I'll try to respond sometime in the afternoon.

You also have to consider the value of your Steam Account and how much it would cost to replace it if something did happen; is it really worth risking, potentially, thousands of dollars and hundreds of games in order to save a tiny, tiny fraction of that? The saving to cost/risk ratio too high for that to be the logical course of action if you have even a moderately-sized collection of games.
