I know this is a question asked around a lot and there are some good threads on how the firegl has problems with opengl based games, but reading a review of the NC8430 on the pcmag and of the t60p, some questions came up! Comparing the gaming fps on the charts below, it looks like the x1600 is only about 1/3 faster than the x1400, while the firegl 5250 is twice as fast fps than the system with the x1400. I know the games and systems are different so is the fps the result of the different systems or is it a fair comparison between the gpus? Thanks and sorry for beating a dead horse :D

The differences are huge between 7600 and the rest !
I think you only have to take into consideration whether your card is dedicated or shared memory. Skip any configuration which states HyperMemory or TurboCache or Hybrid video system !
Any card starting from x1400/7400 but with native 256 Mb is more than decent today ! ;)

The comparison isn't accurate because the testing conditions were different. That said, the FireGL is meant for OpenGL applications like CAD. If you're looking at gaming, the X1600 would probably serve you better. Either way, the FireGL 5250 or the X1600 has more than enough graphical power unless you play demanding games.

    x1600 256MB DDR2 scores 3900 3dmark05 on default clocks and 4800 3dmark05 overclocked to 570/477. 2140 3dmark06 overclocked. Tested with Vista and standard 7.2 ati drivers.

Just in case you needed some numbers.

    Cheers,

    Ivan
