Looking into some pc games, been a long time console gamer (pre-NES-PS2 era). I am looking for recommendation to which game to start with. My notebook spec are in the signature. You can suggest any genre. I am looking to get into fps game since pc are known for its fps.

Unfortunately, my secondary os is vista (Ubuntu w/XP Virtualize as my main) and will game with the performance loss. However, I never game on a pc, so I probably would not notice. Since I have Vista, I may look into some Vista-Only games such as Halo 2.

Yeah, Halo 2 is definitely a good choice. Check out FEAR and (if you want to deal with the compatibility and DRM hassles) Bioshock.

bioshock, fear, call of duty 2 and battlefield 2 are all great FPS.
company of heroes, supreme commander and command and conquer 3 are all good RTS.
Oblivion and Gothic 3 are great RPGs.
Need for Speed Carbon and Colin McRae Rally: Dirt are good racing games.

Battlefield 2, Counter-Strike Source, War Rock (some people like it, some people don't, I personally don't).

Definitely Battlefield 2142. That will change the way you play in the battlefield series for sure.

Counter-Strike: Source, Call of Duty 2, and Silkroad Online would be my recommendations.
