    i came across these words in a review; "8xAA 16xAF" im sure these are game settings. but what exactly are they? can someone explain the other settings too? are these in game settings or gpu settings?

    AA = Anti-aliasing. The graphics are rendered at a higher resolution than they are going to be displayed and so lines appear less jagged. Wikipedia has a good explanation for this one.

    AF = anisotropic filtering; link.

    are these in game or gpu settings? and are there any other settings i should be aware of?

    They are rendering preferences. They can be set in the graphics card's control panel, or inside the program or game that you are running, usually in the game because different programs will run better with different settings and the options in the graphics card's control panel will apply to every program.

    shadows are in settings. normally stress a card pretty well. if thats what youre wondering i dont know.
