It depends on your preference, I game with my laptops keyboard and external mouse. Personally I could use any keyboard, as long as I have my sidewinder.

    -Why do you feel bad?

Hehe. Me too. I'm kind of OCD about small things like that.

I use a nice, cheap external keyboard ($10, I think). It works great, and key feel is excellent. Don't know why I would ever spend $20+ on a keyboard. :)

I use external keyboard as well when gaming at home. It feels more natural and keeps me away from bashing my laptop keyboard... LOL

I have a more comfortable external keyboard that I use at my desk, but my laptop keyboard is just fine for using elsewhere.

I like laptop keyboards. Hell, I use the BenQ board that was designed by BMW as my desktop keyboard specifically because the keys feel more "notebook-like". Personal preference, I guess.

...and my W90 is going to have a full keyboard anyway so no drawbacks! Whee! :D

If you don't use your laptop keyboard because you are worried about it becoming worn out then perhaps you aren't really enjoying it as much as you could be.

In the same way the money you spent on the laptop could have just been sitting gathering interest because you were afraid to spend it.

If you spend your hard earned cash on something like this then I think you should enjoy it and use it 100%, this is what I plan to do when my NP8662 arrives and I will be using the keyboard all of the time.

This is just my opinion of course.

i use my laptops, but it only recognises 2 key presses, which can be fustrating at times. especially racing games where im trying to hold turn, handbrake and accelerate all at once. shame games havnt got a clutch key.... would made doughnuts and powerslides a whole lot easier if you could control the revs like that.

At home, external mouse, keyboard and display (joystick and force feedback wheel too). My notebook is opened only when I'm on the road.

Do you play games which require you to mash the keyboard often? Do you have a laptop which doesn't have a proper numeric keypad and you absolutely need the extra keys instead of having to mess around with the Fn-combinations?

If the answers to both questions is yes, then an external keyboard can't hurt. Otherwise it's your call.

I just use my laptop keyboard+touchpad. After a bit of practice, I am no longer at any disadvantage

I'll always use my laptops keyboard and game. I'd usually use a mouse too, but occasionally I'll use my touchpad and game if I'm lazy. The only time I'd use an external keyboard is if I'm using an external display.

I use an external monitor/keyboard/mouse when I'm at home (usually for gaming and working).

But in the lab I just use an external mouse.

If you have a well-built laptop *cough*Thinkpad*cough*, you shouldn't be too worried about keyboard wear. The only compelling reason I can think of to use an external keyboard is for the numpad.

I use my laptop keyboard, and for mouse I just use my wacom which also has some quick buttons i assigned = P.

I at first felt bad cuz I dont wanna wrek the laptop keyboard. So I still use it, im just careful around it. On desktops I eat dinners infront of the computer if crumbs fall in the keys, who cares.

On my laptop, no food is allowed within a 1 foot radius around it. And I always wash my hands before using it. Lol.

When I'm gaming on my notebook, I always use the notebook keyboard. It's a pretty nice one, too, with backlighting. :D

My desktop, on the other hand, has my Logitech G15 attached to it. Fantastic keyboard. :p

I've a feeling once I buy my laptop, I'll have a bottle of hand sanitizer handy. :D. I'll be planning on using an external keyboard and the mouse that Shroom gave me for use at home. I can' help but eat while surfing NBR.
