My basement is quite cold, probably around 25C or something and everytime I turn on my laptop it starts with very low temps like 38C for the GPU and it later goes to 48C. But when I lift up the lid everything feels really cold. Is there any risk of the GPU going from 38C to 65C for gaming sessions? Dont I need to wait a while for it to warm up? Or can I just start gaming right away?

Just go. Those temperature differences aren't that significant. If it were -25C top +65C in a matter of a few seconds, then there might be a concern.

yea, additionally playing in colder areas are actually better, since the air intake is cooler.

The only thing that doesn't like cold is the hard drive, but that isn't cold enough, it needs to be subzero.

I dunno - I suppose if it gets really cold, and it's really damp like it tends to be in basements, then maybe condensation might become a problem? -ponder- Though unless you've got an air-conditioner pointed at your laptop I suppose that probably won't happen.

25 deg C is considered pretty cold over here. <_< >_>

Now I see where this joke comes from "WoW nerd locked in parent's basement" hehe. No offense mon :)

25C is ok, that's my regular room temperature in Sydney, and don't have any problems with overheating/overfreezing(??!!). So I suppose it's a green light for you.

My apartment's thermostat is set for 65F or about 18C.

25C is definitely not cold, and well within standard operating temperatures for a laptop.

Indeed it would be a heatwave here...

I'd worry more about moisture and condensation than those temperatures.

    15 degrees lol

dude your laptop is not a freaking car... you don't need to warm it up first
the components/hardware of your laptops can withstand really high temperatures, so 65C is nothing. My laptop goes to almost 90 when the vents are blocked(when clean it goes down to max. 81).

i wish my place is that cold ==
