try WSXGA(around 1600x1200)if i remember or WXGA(1440x900)i think, just wait for a pro to tell you, but this should give you a rough idea...do not get wuxga(1920x1200), everything will be tiny

WSXGA is pretty good, but can be a bit hard on the eyes. I prefer WXGA, just because it's just right for gaming

I'd go with 1600x1200. I know some people would hate that resolution at that size. Depends on you, your eyes and what you're used to.

I love the 1680x1050 and was apprehensive when I ordered the G1S because of it.
When using it to browse the net if my eyes are tired, I just click on 'view' and increase the text size. You can increase your DPI to 120 which helps reduce eye strain for text apps, too.
I'm very glad I didn't get a lower res notebook, but it's really personal preference.

I'm using 1280x800 on my 15.4" Toshiba and my brother is using 1680x1050 on his 15.4" G1. Personally I prefer 1440x900 in a 15.4" coz in 1280x800 everything seems a little too big on the screen and with 1680x1050 everything seems way too small... 1280x800 would be good on a 14" and 1680x1050 for 17" imo... But if you want the best for gaming I'll go for 1280x800...

EDIT: here's a nice page where it shows how different resolutions are going to look like in different size of screens. ;) But for some reason it didn't have 1440x900 on a 15.4"...

For gaming it just depends on what specs your sytem is running and how high you can go that will give you decent play which both depend on your gpu and the game. Its a good balance between trying to squeeze out the highest settings and matching with the highest res that still gives you good framerates. I would say 1280 x 1024 should be your base if you have a decent-good card.
