if this has been addressed before, i apologize. i tried searching but came up empty...
i have a collection of games i've purchased over the years and would like to play them on my envy15. many of these require the optical media to be present while being played. however, the envy15 does not have a built in ODD. how does one get around this? i don't want to carry around my external dvd drive everywhere i go just to play a game. and i would rather not download some random hack with "who knows?" what kind of malicious code embedded in it.
edit: also, i know i can make images of the discs, in some cases, but too often the copy protection does not allow a legally friendly way of doing so...

Get an image maker to rip the iso of the dvds that you have and then just mount them on softwares like daemon tools? This method requires quite a large amount of hard drive space though and it's not guaranteed to work with some games

@ Reizo: you beat me to my edit...

No-CD/DVD Fix
Google it. You can discuss the legality and morality of using cracked/modified game executables all you want. But so long as I don't have to pop-in the CDs/DVDs to play games, I'm good.

I don't think i've used an optical drive for games for years...... lol

Same here.
the only time I used an optical drive for something was for virtually installing the OS.
Other than that, everything else has been stored on my HDD. -
^ that's what i'm trying to get to. gaming without relying on the discs (except for installing). after thinking about it for a bit, i may have been a little presumptive by asking such a general question and not about specific games. no matter, i'll go back to mounting virtual discs...

Since a majority of posts are talking about no-cd cracks/patches, thread closed(that kind of discussion is against the forum rules as we don't allow discussion that bypassing security measures like cd checks).
@bubzers +other people interested in the same topic.
Look at the publishers/developers site for a patch that removes the CD requirements(some older games that turned freeware have them).
Also in the future, when purchasing games, look at Indie games(no DRM) or services like Steam(they sometimes have really good deals, no CD is required plus other good things like a great built in community and the ease of backing up games comes in handy).
