whenever i start gow it automatically exits after about a minute and says the game encountered an error. originally i had to update my go 7600 graphics drivers from 93. something to 169.01 because i got a popup that said the game wouldn't be able to save properly without at least 163.44 drivers. i went all the way to 169.01 but the error persists. i'm running windows xp on the dv8000t in my sig. maybe the pc version is just really buggy right now? anyone else have this problem?

try not running it from the auto-start menu that comes up when you put in the cd and run it from the start menu. for some reason when i run it from the auto-start menu it crashes, but if i start it from a shortcut i made then it works fine.

yeah i'm not running it from the cd, i just open it from the desktop icon. i also tried running it from the startup.exe file in the game directory but it gives me the same error, saying that "wargame-g4wlive.exe has encounted a problem" etc. That makes me wonder because i'm not even trying to play it online, so why would the "live" be part of that file name?

Erm from what i've heard, with better graphics cards the GoW graphics get better. As for the gameplay, they added 5 more chapters in the storyline of the PC version so...i'd say it IS better.

after some research, it seems that a hell of a lot of gamers are having the same problem with gears of war, so i'm guessing epic games just needs to design a patch that fixes the problem. *sigh* i was looking forward to playing it over thanksgiving too... though my laptop can barely even handle it.

Meh. I'll just wait up for the patches too. In the meantime, I'll be deciding which gaming laptop to order :D

I'm running on Vista Ultimate (32-bit) and haven't run into any problems at all... aside from the somewhat clunky and unresponsive controls. But the 360 version was like that, too, so I'm happy.

    Maybe it's an XP-related issue?

HAHA you know what I hate? On the Xbox 360 when you sprint since you're pressing A you automatically hide behind every wall you see. Now THAT is annoying.

Erm... the PC version uses the exact same single-button-does-nearly-everything scheme. It's mapped to the spacebar by default.

The only drivers I could get Gears to run on without crashing like that (I experienced it too) are the 169.09. Have you tried those?

You can rebind all the keys, but you can't separate run/cover/roll/etc. That always stays bound to one single key.

its a graphics issue i tink i have a similar laptop better spec smae graphics card geforce go 7600 laptop is dv9330 runing vista ultimate 64bit (could be a issue) and i get same whinny graphics message not even letting the game start thing is nividea has new drivers out but hp computeres reject nivideas drivers because of the quick play buttons and stuff so you gotta wait for hp to get there retards in action (its been 3 months since the drivers were released as i know of ) and rencode em and my model seems to be at the end of that list...

specs are running core 2 1.6ghz 2gig ram 2 internal 120gig hd's 17ich screen and all the other nice lil gadgets
