getting rly bad lag in CS:S

so lately i've been getting rly bad lad. so bad i cant even play. wtf is going on? i've never had this problem before. my computer specs are fine, my internet is fine, my video card drivers are up to date. everything is fine and is as it is normally. and the lag is only for my CS:S. my CoH is fine and same with my INS.

plz help!

can you describe what had happened if anything between the point of getting no lag and lots of lag?

 

Do you mean lag as in a bad internet connection or lag as in stuttering graphics? Is it intermittent lag or poor FPS? Please be specific.

 

my lag is like connection lag. my fps are all the same as before this lag problem. and its wierd cause like i said before, its only for my Counter-Strike:Source. my Company of Heroes and Insurgency are all fine online.

and between no lag and lag i did absolutely nothing. i know because it started last night and yesterday morning i played and it was fine. and then i wasnt home for the whole middle of the day.

 

You can try tweaking your tcp. A good tool for this is TCP Optimizer(use google to find). Its free, and for me, it works.

 

ok i dl'ed it but how do i use it?

 

on the bottom, there should be 3 options you can select. Current, Optimized, and something else. Select Optimized, press apply/ok and reboot computer. But i would strongly suggest you create a restore point, not just this program, but installing any program(it saves time/headache).

 

well it didnt rly help..actually the game is fine now but only when ppl talk on mics. then it lags

 

Then, go to options, then voice, then disable voice.

 

do you think if i re-installed the game, would it help? i think i might try it but i wanna know if it will make a difference first

I presume you don't have any other tasks running at the same time, such as downloads, virus scans?

Have you tried performing an adware/spyware scan?

 

and make sure you turn off ip blockers, firewalls and whatnot. or at least allow the connection.

 

no i dont have any of those things running...and like i said everything is the same as before when it was working fine (for like the past year or so) and then all of a sudden one night i got this sudden lag! and the wierdest part is that it is ONLY for my CS:S!!

well im re-installing the game now so we'll see if that works

EDIT: well i re-installed CS:S and it didnt do anything. the game is still ok but only lags when ppl talk on mics.

 

if it only lags when ppl talk on mic could that be a soundcard problem? keep in mind its only for this one game. my other games where ppl talk on mics are fine.
