with a sager notebook, 2.0 ghz core 2 duo and 1 gig ram, would it be better to have a go 7800 256mb or 7950 512mb for games such as BF2, medieval war 2, and future strong games. id like to be able to play on medium-high settings too. thanks

the 7950 will annihilate the 7800. the 7800 is still a good card though.

It's better to have the Go7950GTX, yes, although that all depends on your wallet. ;)

The Go7800GTX is certainly no slouch though and isn't that far behind the Go7950GTX. Both GPUs are monsters when it comes to sheer performance and they will play any game out there right now at maximum settings. Check the GPU guide for more info.

the 7800 non gtx isn't all that powerful, its a small ammount faster then the x1600, so i would go for the 7950 if you can afford it.

the stock 7800gtx is the third fastest mobile card out

it is only beat by the 7900gtx and 7950gtx (and it's just barely beaten by 2 7900gs's in SLI)

I take it you're looking to buy the clevo m570u and you want to know if it's worth it to spend more money than you would with the rjtech deal. If you want future proof you might as well get a 7950gtx. I think flawless and maybe hypersonic might be able to beat rjtech's prices.

I understand that upgrading a 7800gx isnt possible, however while trying to save some money but still play high-end games at high settings, would it be best to go with the 7800 or is the 7950 really worth it

If you really want to play games at high settings then the Go 7950 GTX is one to go for. If you want to save money, you could go with a Go 7800, however, some more intensive games may not run at the highest settings. Also, if you purchase a notebook with a WUXGA screen, and you want to game at that resolution, it will be very tough on a Go 7800. However, it is perfectly able to game at a more modest resolution of WXGA+. Hope this helps.

i take if you're interested in buying the clevo m570u from rjtech?

the 7800gtx should run current games at max settings on a wxga or wsxga screen, play at wuxga you might have to lower the settings a tiny little bit

if you want to game at wuxga then go for the 7950gtx, anything under that, 7800gtx will be fine

I am running a 7800 GTX on WUXGA,
no probs for me with all games on High Settings and native resolution. :)

    Stock 3DMark06 score of 7800 GTX = 4000

thats pretty good for any notebook :D

The Clevo M570U-A with the 7800 GTX is probably the best gaming notebook with a $1800-2000 budget... owns the Dell's 7900 GS.

yeah the 7800gtx is a fine card, but it's not as future proof as the 7950gtx, plus it runs a bit hotter

OCing won't void your warranty, OCing and damaging your card and then telling Dell (or w/e company you buy from) that you blew up your card OCing will...

exactly. How do you think Dell will tell that you OC'd your card (unless you tell them), if your card died on you? Do you seriously think they are going to start yanking eeprom chips off the card to check what's in them? Besides, just be smart/careful about OC'ing and you shouldn't fry your card in the first place.
