Just out of curiosity any more people here with the Dell XPS M170 and the go7800GTX? I have mine overclocked to 450/1200. Now just for fun I installed World in Conflict on the M170. I didn´t think this laptop could run that game at 1920x1200 and almost all options maxed. Now I have frames ranging from 30+ down to 17 depending if there are lots lots of heavy explosions on screen at once. But usually I have around 27-30 fps when playing.
It´s just nice that such a old laptop can still pull off this game at such a high resolutions and with almost all options maxed![]()
Gears of War runs great too at 1920x1200 with frames ranging from 25 in extreme action to 30+ and almost all options maxed.
Test Drive Unlmited 1920x1200 no HDR, and low draw distance I have around 34 fps.
John Woo´s Stranglehold runs great in 1920x1200.
Now other newer games that runs bad is Crysis of course, remember this is still a single core CPU. Imagine a Core2Duo and the go7800 GTX would benefit greatly from it. Nevertheless I almost never play on it anymore, I am waiting for my 2nd XPS M1730 with 8800m GTX SLI.
Still I think the M170 is a solid performer. I usually just use my XPS M170 for testing out newer games and how they run and can be optimized through ini files for just that system for the fun of it. Though my kids love to play on it and it has been a very solid performer as long as I have had it![]()
go7800 GTX performance :)
