I played Live For Speed when I had a Logitech Driving Force GT and I enjoyed it a lot. Graphics aren't that great though.

I dont know if Shift 2 is "sim" but it is 50% off right now on Steam so its a good buy.

I just got it, sometime this week plan to hook up my G27 and give it a good run.

Dirt 2 was super fun for me, its not super sim but its not super arcady so I imagine Dirt 3 is awesome as well waiting for the price to fall on that one.

Shift 2 is fun, but the developers/EA abandoned the game with a lot of bugs still in it...

Yeah Shift is a nice one. You can still grab it from Steam for -75% of it's price.

I think you want something like TOCA 3. It's a little more sim and a little less arcade. Dirt 3 is probably a good choice, but definitely falls on the arcade side of things. Grid was also really good, but still more arcade than sim. Any EA racing game is gonna fall hopelessly on the arcade side.

Apparently shift 2 is supposed to be sort of sim like, but i'm not convinced.

I played Dirt 3 on Xbox, didn't like it much. The physics are really weird, driving on packed dirt handles like ice.

GT5 Rallying feels like ice too, even with 4WD vehicles too. Maybe that's the way it really handles since both give rallying a similar experience.

Rule of thumb- if you can't tell a difference between fast bump and fast rebound shy away from recommending racing sims :p

There are two sets of good PC-sims those made by Simbin (Race 07, GTR Evo, Race On- in essence add-ons to Race 07, GTR2, GT Legends) and rFactor.
I haven't tried Live For Speed so I won't comment on this.

As for rally games- Richard Burns Rally is yet to be beaten by anything.

rFactor still rules, IMO. tons of great cars, tracks, multiplayer online leagues and servers to play until your eyes bleed.

If you want to go more "serious" than that, iRacing.

Really? Ice doesn't even feel like ice in dirt 3. Dirt 3 is very easy compared to Richard Burns rally.

I'm sure it doesn't, it probably feels like flypaper or something.

Look, I know how cars handle and I have a hard time believing that my Focus sedan handles better than Ken Block's.

if you like an open-world racing game with great super car. i suggest test drive unlimited. pretty not new game, it works great with racing wheels and i feel that driving feeling and handling is great. but not the TDU2, i think the controll and handling is differ.

TDU2 is way crappier compared to TDU1.
But i got it real cheap on the Steam summer sale so im not that mad about it.
TDU1 also got the support of a really good modding community too.
    But still, its more arcade than car sim. D;
