hi, i usually play world of warcraft and tried fallout 3 now but its like the computer holds the game back so it lags a bit and its really abd in fallout.
When i walk around or movethe mouse its like it skips here and there :S
when i started the game itself recommended high settings for me... an di tried the lowest settings and same result :<

i got aspire 5920 2ghz dual core, 2gb ram, nvidia geforce 8600m gt 256 mb ram graphic card

i kinda think the laptop should run the games fine, right? computers bugs me so much i hate it o_O anyone got any ideas? and where i can get latest or best graphic drivers? or possibly something else that can get my laptop to run the games smoother :(
(just formated my comp, after i used xp and my graphic card broke)

and are pci memory controller important?

    thx.

It's difficult to understand the problem from your description - you're saying you're getting a low frames per second (i.e consistantly jerky animaton / movement), or very short jerks of video lag?

If it's the former issue, that would likely just be because your hardware can't keep up with the settings you've used (don't put too much faith in the automatically selected settings - they arn't always what's best for your system).

If it's the latter issue, it is usually one of two things; not enough texture memory, or not enough RAM. The first problem can possibly be remedied through turning the texture settings down, or even using one of the driver-level tweaks to use a crude filter on textures (i.e the "performance" settings from within the nVidia control panel) - this will obviously make the game look not quite as pretty, but may eliminate the problem without having to turn much else down. The second potential problem (RAM) more or less involves you just buying some more memory - RAM is as close to free as any computer equipment is ever going to get these days, so not an expensive upgrade.

Of course it is entirely possible your issue is none of the above and I havn't understood correctly, or you're having a somewhat more unique and localised problem - various processes that could be running in the background could have similar effects, for example - without a little more information it's hard to say.

If you need to update your driver, go to laptopvideo2go.com, and download the driver and modified INF file.

Extract the file into a folder, then replace the INF file with the modified INF you downloaded.

TBH your specs arent too great, especially for fallout 3 - your 256 meg GPU will be holdin you back a fair bit, IMO.

Investing in an extra gig or two of RAM should help a fair bit, as will closing as many background processes as you can before playing.

If that doesn't bring it to a playable level, you may want to look at overclocking (I prefer rivatuner) - read the guides here, and make sure to keep a careful eye on temperatures.

Also, if you can be bothered, download 3DMark06 trial version, run the test at its default settings, and post your score here for us to have a look at.
