I would like to upgrade my graphics card Nvidia GT 740m. I have a Toshiba L50-A-18R. Getting a GT 860M for example would be great.

    ((( i7 4700mq / chipset intel hm86 )))

So, ¿it this posible? thank you

It depends on your laptop, if 740m is soldered on your mobo then the answer is no, otherwise you need to have a card with the same connection to mobo and you need cards that either support the same heatsink or chassis that can fit the heatsink of the new card (it is not simple, for example 460m heatsink didn't fit 7970m and I burned a card, although everything was in place and there was absolutely no contact). I am pretty sure 860m is using MXM 3.0, notebookcheck says 740m also uses the same (though I am not sure). Problem is Toshiba doesn't produce laptops that are upgradable (most of the time). Most probably your gpu is not even removable. Did you try opening the back of laptop and taking a look yet?

I am pretty certain there were no MXM versions of the 740m. You would need to buy a new laptop.
