I started to look for graphics intense games to play and I came up with these

    FEAR
    Far Cry
    Hitman Blood Money
    Battlefield 2
    Oblivion

What else can people think of?

    Prey
    Quake 4
    Doom 3

Quake 4 and Doom 3 are older games, but they can still push your mid level notebooks.

Half Life 2 Episode 1, pushes the bar further with HDR.

Oblivion is the top one there, and you can make it even more so with mods. The default landscape textures are at 512x512. There are mods that replace the game textures with 2048x2048 landscape textures. Needless to say the game looks utterly amazing with them, but it also takes an utterly amazing system to use them.

Half Life 2, even Episode I, is not overly demanding. Same with Battlefield 2, and Hitman - they have high minimum requirements but work beautifully at highest settings on mid-range cards of today like the x850, 6800, etc. I would not class Far Cry as demanding at all on a modern system.

Some really demanding games if run at full whack:

    Oblivion
    Quake IV
    Prey
    FEAR

FEAR and Oblivion especially will bring all but the most powerful laptop to its knees on the highest settings

i agree, in farcry i can run with the highest setting with my ATi 9700 pro and had no issues whatsoever. i wouldn't consider it as demanding on a modern system anymore.

Yeah farcry was the cream of the crop what 2 years ago? But now its outdated, unlike Crysis, Crytech's next "Cry" game.
