I don't believe so. Atleast not by much. I read that the x3100 has a max shared ram of 144mb. So, even if you add more ram to your system, it won't be that much more to devote to the intigrated card.

Yea, i'm guessing it's 512 installed...since you can't get 502 on a stick. The other 10mb is probably current alloted to the vram when he checked it.

Regardless of whether it'll be better for vram, you'll definitly see an increase in performance from 502-1gb or more

The gma x3100 is primarily a notebook integrated card, so upgrading graphics is out of the question

It doesn`t matter if it will increase or not, you`re missing the point. It`s an integrated graphics card,so it will never use all the MB it markets, whether it`s 256 Mb or 1024MB.
But upgrading the RAM to AT LEAST 2 gb will give you a massive boost , especially in Vista.

Yea, and your sister also has a different anatomical structure.

What we're trying to tell you is,

A)Not all laptops are the same
B)Advertised values are just that. Advertised. They are used as marketing schemes most of the time. If you knew what i was trying to say, then you'd know that a 512mb video card of gddr2 is much slower than a 256mb video card of gddr3
    C) You will see an improvement by upgrading, regardless of how much your laptop decides to devote to the card.

    End. Thank you.

The thing is that with an x3100, you will not be able to use the system's Ram exactly like a card with dedicated VRam. Using system ram as VRam is far less efficient than dedicated vram. The graphics card is weak processing wise anyways.

The Puma platform is supose to be having the best integrated gpu at a far more accessible price.Wait for that if you need battery life and gaming power.
