No worries...if I run this at 640x400 with all low settings I think my 1.8Ghz P4 1GB RAM, and 7300 GT could handle it...I think anything made within the past year or two will work out fine.

What's all the fuss?
If I were the developer, I'd personally pick the highest end system that's available, and put that as the reccomended. It would actually seem more reasonable to me if they just put the min requirements as any card that can play the game in 640x480 lowest settings at an average of 30fps or greater.
Reccomended settings should be more like Quad core CPU 2.2GHz or greater, 2x GTX 280 in SLI / 2x HD 4850x2 in Crossfire. Because I don't know about them, but I would definately reccomend to my players that setup or greater for the reccomended play experience. -
Well you answered it yourself there Face_Jones... Big difference between the two. And the 9600M is very overclockable.
-
yeah but you shouldn't really need that much to run a console port.
-
FusiveResonance Notebook Evangelist
In fact you'd need more. Ports (usually) aren't optimized for pc hardware. therefore, in order for a port to run decently, youd need better hardware than a game made specifically for pc. -
Then whats the point in running a crap optimized game thats gonna look like the consoles anyways. There just so much developers can do to make it look better than it does on the console because the entire engine is built around the 360 and PS3 architecture. So the max PC graphics can only be obtained by PC games since they are made for our systems.
Thats my little rant about console ports. Though i am going to buy this game to see what all the fuss was about when it was released. -
Hm, new specs:
Alienware M17.
P8600 2.4GHz 3MB Cache.
Dual 3870s in CrossfireX.
3GB RAM.
How well do you guys SPECULATE it will run it? Settings and Resolution wise.
Thanks. -
Crystal ball says you can run it.....eight ball says ask again later "aka no one knows"
-
Whoa where can I buy those? I'd love to have one!
Kidding, thank you for you're reply though.
And the waiting begins >.< -
I hope my 5920G can play it smooth... at least in medium settings.
-
i think you will
you're CPU is good
-
I just hate why latest game always have a crazy graphic which need an expensive VGA... -__-
-
this one is more CPU intensive appearently.
-
Ohh that's good to hear!
I wish my notebook able to manage a latest games in medium settings at least for the next 1-2 year... -
is it going to be able on Mac OS?
-
The Quad core is what pissed me off the most! oh well I have it for xbox and there is absolutly no reason what so ever for me to get it again on PC...
-
The game is more CPU intensive, but it's also very GPU intensive. Some of the scenes get way out of hand with the grenade/car explosions, driving, speed, cinematic effects, etc. It's a really fun game, can't wait for it to come on PC. It's like Crysis' graphics class, but the gameplay is actually enjoyable (for GTA fans anyway).
-
lol, gameplay is actually enjoyable.
-
You do realize the XBOX 360 has three cores running at 3.2GHz each, don't you?
With improvements to the engine, along with increased AI, Physics, and Graphics, and running a full blown OS at the same time, what is the big deal with being surprised at a simple quad?
Quads are recommended, but my guess is that a good 2.5 C2D will be able to run decent with the game. And anybody running X9000 or the X9100 will do just fine, especially with your multipliers cranked up. -
Boy how I've been wanting to hear that from someone.
Lol. -
Does my m1330 with the fried 8400M GS have a chance?
-
I'm going to be picking it up in a few hours for my 1520. Hopefully it will run.
-
Feedback is appreciated
-
13.88 GB (14,907,710,191 bytes)
Ack.
This game is huge. I was going to run some benchmarks for you guys but not really feeling like that lol. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
something tells me this game is going to be a huge DISAPPOINTMENT
-
My humble Sony Vaio Z (VGN-Z530) would run GTA 4?
-
I have a m1530 2.4GHZ/2GB/256 8600GT DDR3. Very disappointed that I have to play the game at 800x600 or 1024x600(? might be 800, i forget)
This is with most settings turned down. I forget which drivers I'm running but i'm hoping for a patch to optimize the game. If not, I regret buying the game
This is the only game that has pushed my system. Going to try out my 1.8GHZ Quad Core 4GB RAM with 9500GS later and see how it does. -
Your heard it wrong. Apparently a desktop C2D 3.0 Ghz still has trouble running the game when compared to a quad core.
-
Yup. But oh well thats the games fault not the system.
Game apparently sucks pretty much no matter what system you have so why even get it.. -
Sucks bad on mine. Laggy as can be. And I don't have some pansy system. Better than most desktops... Hate it.
-
Sorry emike, might want to sell it now before EVERYONE gets word of how bad it is and wont buy it lol
-
Haha you want to buy it?!?
-
Emike your system is supposed to last you atleast a good 2 years with maxing out games
but this one appears to be sh!t, have you managed to put on Some AA? -
I know.
I haven't put on any AA that isn't already enabled by default. -
Hmm not too laggy on my desktop though at 1440x900. However it´s a crap port no doubt about it. I have it on my 360 and got it for free on my PC.
-
Ugh, Grand Theft Auto IV sounds sorta scary now, I did not think that there was going to be a more poorly-optimized game than Crysis, I was wrong, man!, it is awful that there is no SLi support out-of-the-box for the game, I will wait until that SLi support is added to get the game... *wonders how will it run on her laptop...*
Anyway, the video memory usage is just... ridiculous, I cannot believe it, I am shocked.
Hopefully Rockstar will re-think about what they have done and release a patch where they fix all of the issues with the game's performance, hopefully.
-
ehh, i was getting comfortable about Crysis being the bottom FPS i can ever get, now we have this.. things just keep getting better and better
gta4 official requirements, holy crap.
