Alright i am looking to get a new laptop for gaming and graphic purposes should i get a gtx 560m in sli or a gtx 570m?? My budget is 2 grand just wondering which one would perform better (i know one 570 is better than one 560 but i do not know if 2 560's in sli are better or not). Also the gtx 570m laptop is upgradable to 16gb of ram where as the sli 560m laptop is only upgradable to 12gb of ram. If you want to see the two laptops i am looking at here are the links.

Gaming in SLI doesent scale 100% and not all games support it or benefit from it.
The Sager NP8180 is a massive 18" notebook versus the 17" MSI one.
Another issue would be that Sager uses its 15" keyboard on all its notebook sizes (Even on my 17") and its not backlit and that can be a deal breaker for some.
MSI has a backlit keyboard that can change color ala Dells Alienware line.

I do not know what graphical programs you will use or if it would see a benefit from SLI but i would have taken the 17" MSI one.

    Hope this rant helps. :3

With that price I would go and configure a NP8170 with a 6990m and get the same performance as the sli 560m.

I agree with Mr. MM. You can load up the NP8170 with a 90% NTSC Color Gamut screen (excellent screen), AMD 6990m, 12GB 1600 Ram, 2nd Generation Intel Core™ i7-2760QM (upgraded CPU), 500GB HDD, and blu-ray drive for about $2000 on sites like xoticpc.com.

Sager NP8170 (Built on Clevo P170HM) Custom Gaming Laptop

That would be a beastly laptop!

That or you could go Alienware m17x r3 with the 6990 and spend a bit more $. Lastly, the option that I would choose personally would be to purchase a m17x r3 from the dell outlet store for cheap. You can frequently get a 20-25% off coupon which could bring a m17x r3 down to $1500 with a 6990 or 6970m.

Yeah but i have heard bad reviews about dell and so i dont want to go anywhere near alienware... Just to let you all know the kind of games i am thinking about is crysis II, deus ex, and other games like that. I am also thinking about trying to go 3d so i was just wondering what is the best idea for that??? i would like to have a laptop that will cost me 2 grand or less with warrenty also if you guess could recommend any system for me that would be apprieciated i do not want to go anywhere near alienware though due to there support service.

dunno about the costumer service of aw, afaik its good. specially in the us.

the quality of the m17x is also quite good.

another thing that you can go is through sager resellers like xotic, malibal and so forth. they give you top notch service, although they dont do on site repairs.

but sincerely neither does msi, and for that price, I would go for a np8170, you will get a more powerful card with the same price

I think Dell's next business day service is VERY impressive. I've had two GPUs die and had them both fixed within a week. Few companies can do that. I agree with the above posters, if we are talking about 560m SLi, I would take a faster single card like the 6990m over 560m SLi (the 6990m is equal to a 580m, and a 580m is literally twice the horsepower of a 560m).

The only advantage of 560m Sli unit is that you can upgrade it to 6990m Xfire or 580m Sli at a later date, in which case it IS better than single 6990m.

In your situation, you sound like you want to buy one laptop, and be done with it. Then I would do what others have said, get a laptop with a 6990m, and be done with it. Sager/Clevo and the Alienware M17xR3 are all good choices and are easily purchased with 1080p, 2720/2760, and 6990m for $2k. RAM is cheap so upgrade it yourself rather than from the manufacturer, also 8 is plenty, so don't let a 12GB limit concern you.

ok so here is a different question which one is better a gtx 485m or a gtx 570m or the hd 6990. Also anyone can put them into a ranking as performance wise that would be nice as well thanks.
