Nope, sorry. Especially in big fights with many models walking around.

    What is your budget ?

For $1550 you get the 675m gpu and the ivy bridge 3610qm on sager website and for + $100 you get a 7970m which is about 50% better then the 675m.

Maybe you could return your msi ?

Why didn't you just buy an adequate laptop cooler, instead?

yeah i returned it last week , also it wasnt a issue a cooler can solve , the gtx670m on the clevo was reaching 97-98c on full load "99%" inspite the fact of having ic diamond paste applied!

if buying a laptop with gtx670m graphics is future proof
    ............................
I had to chuckle there. 670m is already outdated. 660m is far better.

In simple words 670m is 2010 outdated hardware. 660m is a basic gpu power consumption wise because the 670m is 40nm extreme gpu 660m had to be basically a slightly oc 650m. Anyway in other words 670m will need twice as much cooling. Another way to look at it the gtx680m and ati 7970m top end graphics ard produce less heat then the 670m and take less power consumption.

If the 670m laptop was £500 I would not buy it as I could get the latest technology for similar amount.

Thats because it is the second most power hungry mobile card apart from the 675m.

In simple terms what you are buying is like going to shop getting latest processor and design but having the main graphics engine from early 2010 models. My desktop in 2009 was more power efficient then your 670m as it had the new ati 5000 series gpus which had better power efficiency.

At the end of the day would you go into a shop and get a 2 and a half year old computer for top money gpu wise. Thats what you are doing.

If the the new gpus weren't out I would say if you can't wait get it but the new gpus are out I don't see the point on getting old tech.

670m and 675m compared to nvidia maxwell will look like pentium 4 extreme edition to ivy bridge i7 3770k in 2 years time.

Currently 45w cards like 7870m perform similar to 100w cards of previous gen. and laptops weigh less, big battery life on gaming for same performance.

I am amazed that no one cares that in essence you can get the same performance gpu at half the power consumption and people buy the old 100w cards.

    nissangtr786,

    Cease and desist, immediately.

You have a thread of your own creation where you can extol the virtues of your GPU of choice. Please contain your "preaching" in that thread and that thread alone.

This is the only warning you will get.

Would an HD 7970m play guild wars 2 on full with over 30 fps? Because I am buying a new laptop and considering the upgrade. Thank you!

You would think so, during beta events I have seen alot comments that have indicated better fps with lessor cards.

This next beta event will most likely be the first time 7970M owners get to try it out.

Also remember that new drivers that support Guild Wars 2 will greatly help performance. Skyrim might be a bad example but drivers have increased the performance of that game by nearly 100%.

Why did you switch to the MSI? I'm pretty sure the overheating issue was related to your card and not the laptop it was in. Did those Furmark screenshots from me get you anywhere with receiving a new 670m?

I've gamed for hours on many of the games you have mentioned in your threads (Diablo 3, Tera) and my card has never exceeded 77c. I still think they are trying to make you keep a sub-par GPU.

I do agree with some of the others and think you should go with a more powerful card (7970m, 680m) if your budget can allow it (if you can still change your order). The only reason I have a 670m is because I was on a time crunch and needed my laptop when the 7970m's were still on back-order, so I "settled" with what I have now. I plan on upgrading within the next year or so :D

Gw2 is also cpu dependent in huge fights.. so idon't know how the 3610qm will handle in huge world verus world pvp and world bosses.

The 670m is a fairly potent GPU, indeed higher than the requirements by a significant margin.

    From the gw2 site:
Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or better • Intel® Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3, AMD Athlon 64 X2, or better • 2 GB RAM • NVIDIA® GeForce® 7800, ATI X1800, Intel HD 3000, or better (256MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better) • 25 GB available HDD space • Broadband Internet connection • Keyboard and mouse

The only recommended stats are the following:
    -Quad-core Core2 or better
    -Geforce 450GTS or better

Any 670m-equipped laptop is going to exceed these specs.

Since GW2 and all benchmarks from it to date have been on beta, one can hope that the code will tighten up as an MMO requiring a 7970m (or 7870 desktop) is a little rediculous. If GW2 cannot fix their client to work on lesser GPUs fluidly, you can safely ignore the game as it will die quickly.

You can safely ignore the attacks on the 670m as it is still quite potent.
    (It's no 7970m or 680m though.)

I have a old i7-720QM. I was watching cpu alot during the last beta.

Even in large fights my usage was only 2-cores at 50-60%. I am sure they have more work to do but I didnt see that heavy of cpu load.

hi again , well at first i thought a msi would save me all the horrors of another rma because of it being a well know brand and my old clevo being assembled by a unknown dealer but sadly after my gt70 was ready to ship it turned out that it is defective cuz of bsod , so now i went back to clevo but this time i ordered a 7970m , hopefully this time i will receive a functional laptop.
