    hey guys, i just downloaded the half life 2 demo and i get diagonal lines during gameplay. i can barely read the menus and it is quite annoying.
    any and all help appreciated.
    specs are in my sig.
    i just downloaded direct x 10 btw.

    heres the main menu:

    you can see it on the street and the menu is transparent.

    Try updating your driver?
    If not, downgrade to Dx9 and see what happens..

    probably some sorta glitch that triggered the wireframe view in Half-Life 2, try the following console commands and see:

    Developer Cheats
    Bring down the console and enter sv_cheats 1.

    * cl_drawhud:
    removed
    * Wire frame models:
    mat_wireframe1
    * Only objects effected by physics are wireframe:
    vcollide_wireframe 1
    * Draw game triggers:
    showtriggers_toggle
    * Draw normal maps:
    mat_normalmaps 1
    * Draw surface materials:
    mat_normals 1

    im upgrading my nvidia drvier now to see if thats it.
    i only got the demo of hl2, how do i get the console active?

    That's right, the console is disabled in Half-Life 2 for some weird reason.

    updated the drivers but still no go...
    im on dx 10 and hl2 shows its using dx9.
    also i noticed that characters eyes and mouths are not there. instead it shows white or red...

    hey guys i got it running clean few hours ago.
    it was my nvidia settings, they were overriding the games, so i let the software choose and voila i got this:
