    halo 2 pc terrible performance on xps 1530

    I have a t9300 and an 8600m gt with 256mb ddr3... why is this game running so horribly... even at 800x600 resolution i maybe get 20fps... ***

    also.. i am running 180.43 drivers... could that be it???

    Because it forces DX10 and 8600's are horrid at DX10 code.

    If halo 2 is anything like the first halo for PC, it won't run that great unless you've got powerful components, because it's a bad port from counsols.

    No offense but that answer is total BS :rolleyes: .

    PCGamer, you'll have to downgrade to the 175.19... It is the last driver that gave me the normal frame rate on that game. Anything over that is just stuttery and totally unplayable.... The 8600m Gt can play the gaame at 1680x1050 with everything high and Aa off at over 30fps without any troubles....

    i have 2.4, 3gb, and 256 8600gt also and halo 2 runs like smooth butter, maybe u haev too many programs running

    It's the drivers, as Ayle said.

    Halo PC and Halo 2 Vista are incredibly picky with which video card drivers they will run at normal speeds on. But if you do have a powerful enough machine you'll be able to get good enough frame rates with bad drivers anyways, so there is some truth to what everyone has said.

    ive got to Say , Halo 2 came close to be the worst port ever.. but oh well, there were worse ports, anyway yes, that game is extremely picky with drivers.
