The MR HD2600 is significantly more powerful than the 8600M-GS. It's about 5% slower than the 8600M-GT in most modern games. Which laptops specifically are you looking at?

From reading a previous thread, the HD2600 comes well underclocked, so a little tweak should see it at least matching if not beating the 8600M GT.

They're all ddr2. The Hd2600 is better than the 8600GS and a little under the GT. I've ordered the F3SA though cause I've never owned an ATI. :p

Yup, that's the correct order. The last one is significantly less powerful, maybe half so on average.

The 2600's are DDR2, the 8600M-GS is underclocked and undervolted GDDR3.

Beware that Radeons do not support XvMC (last time I checked) so they're not a good choice for HD.

So if I were to restore the clocks and voltage on both, the 8600-GS would win because it is a ddr3?

Btw, thanks for the good news guys. before visiting this forum I thought the Asus G1s was the only choice for me and it cost $400 more than the ones i've listed.

You cannot restore the voltage on the F3sv, therefore you cannot fully restore the memory clocks. It will still overclock very well, due to it's GDDR3 memory, however even fully overclocked it will barely be up to the performance level of a stock DDR2 HD2600.

The DDR2 vs GDDR3 distinction is only really important when comparing two cards in the same class, in this case the nVidia card in the same class as the HD2600 is the 8600M-GT, not the -GS.
