What is the most powerful gPU you can put into a small lappy without generating extreme heat like my friend's ASUS F8SV(, which has the NVIDIA8600GT)?

Is that safe to put the Nividia 8600GT or ATI HD2600 into such a small computer?

Is the Nividia 8400GS or HD2400 the most powerful gpu available for a 14.1 or smaller ?

If dell is available in my area (since I can customize a Vostro 1400), I dont even think about all of this but they dont do consumer buiness in Thailand so I would have to keep my HP or get a Toshiba with HD2600...

Q1 .Is the HD2600 much better than the NV8400GS in terms of handling 3d games (not very new ones)?

Q2 .IF so is it safe to put it into a small lappy like my DV2700T?

    Q3. how does the HD2400 compare against the HD2600 and NV8400GS ?

I have been googling this subject for about 3 days during my work hours, but there seems no direct comparison of these 3 GPUs in a small laptop like Dell Vostro 1400 or HP DV2700T.

If I can accept the size of a Toshiba A200 or Lenovo Y510, it is easy since they have better GPU than my hp , but I hate the bulk of these models.

    Thanks in advance.

PS. I dont know any name of Games other than Crysis or like that used for bench marks, but I would like to know and try a bit less demanding ones.

    1. yes
    2. no
    3. It totally sucks compared to the 2600HD and is about on par with the 8400 GS
You can't replace your graphics card, so don't even try.

See if you can find the LG P300 in Thailand. It's a 13.3 inch with a 8400M GS

Best gaming/size ratio for mobile systems (not desktop replacements) is 15.4 systems with an 8600m GT.

So that means a Dell 1520 or 1525 or 1530.
    Or whatever HP sells.
    Or a Macbook Pro.

If you want to go smaller, you have to drop down in the graphics chip rating.

Which will be expensive and hot.
The 8600M GT right now is the best choice.

Thank you so much for your reply.

1 more question what about the ATI HD2400XT?

Is it much better than the NV 8400GS?

thank you but, what does a small computer have the Nvidia it?

I mean 13.3 or 14.1, as far as I know the ASUS f8 is the only one to have this GPU.

Hi, Stomeffect , thanks for your suggestion.
I wish I could buy the Dell as you say but they dont do business in BKK now.

And HP is the no1 brand here but they have only 8400GS on their DV2700T and HP business are hard to find here with any decent GPU.

I had the HP 6510b but that models had X3100+ T7300.

    have a goo one.

Thanks , I read the review on the LG , I would like to try it but as with Dell , LG does not do any PC business here now.

I dont know why but so many companies are leaving out here........

Dell,Samsung and Clevo are no longer available here.

I quite liked my Lenovo Ideapad Y510 with T7500 +NV8600GT but it was a huge computer.

So sold it to my brother.

Oh well, I guess I will have to get a 15.4 as reading all I realized the NV8600 gt is the best bet for my needs.

    Thanks for your time.
