    hi guys
i used doxs 182.05 drivers to oc my hp dv9740 with an 8600gs. thngs were workn ok til i upoed the o/c to 650/480. thats when thingsstarrd goin wrong. tempwise things seemed ok but i couldnt run benchnarks without running thru errors. ithen lowered clocks but the error stayed . so i uninstald the drivers . things seemed ok for a few hours then when i opened my lappyjust now i got the nvidia error again. i uninstalled the driver and rivatuner in safemode but by this time even the screwn in safe mode had many artifacts. it asked me to reboot which i did but it jusr gave me bosd. rebooted two other times same thing. icnt even get to the bios or hp splash screens. hope u guys cn help and sorry for the unfitmatted post im tyoing this on my phone

that doesnt sounds good.... pretty sure that your Mother Board is broken.... i think you fried your lappy.. sorry.

you shouldn't meddle with overclocking anyway. minimal gain, too much hassle, reduce reliability, reduce effeciency, reduce lifespan.

Did you get a random BSOD or while working with nTune in the NVIDIA control panel?

The problem could be your memory, as someone said earlier in your previous thread, you don't have temperature monitor on your memory and by the looks of it you overclocked it like 30% (the original was 350 right?). This might have caused a problem since memory usually is not cooled on your laptop unless you use a notebook cooler or something that will provide some air circulation for it as well.

actually iwas also the one who posted the possible memory failure.
just wishing it could just be a bios failure or corruption.
i read somewhere that resetting the bios after a video bsod could actually resucitate the lappy.
im not new to overclocking just totally went beyond the mem threshold i think

im more inclinwd to think its my video memory
the problem with my model is the vidcrd is soldered to the motherboard and isnt an mxm slot.
overclocking actuall got me at least 30% better benchmarks at stable temps.
alas the geek in me pushed it too far
iwould dare say however that the 8600gs is a good o/c vidcard wirh doxs drivers

Did you do artifact scanning with AtiTool, since as i already said there are artifacts that the human eye can not see but this program detects. Usually the card would start artifacting long before it gets damaged from the heat

My highest stable oc for my 8600m gt is 580/450. You have a 8600m gs and you put an oc of 650/480. When testing and looking for the highest stable overclock always use ati tools and scan for artifacts before you test in game.
Artifacts showing on normal clock speeds means that card is fried, now you have learned the hard way on how not to oc.

my 8400M GT runs on the same core as the 8600M GS.

i pushed mine to max 700/780 without artifacts.

Although thats for 3Dmark benchmarking records ..

my normal clock is at 600/731 no artifacts running on this for more than 6 months

Well unfortunately you have probably fried your VGA. If it’s under warranty you could try and get it fixed for free or just see how much it would cost and decide what’s better - getting a new one or fixing this one (since as you already said changing your VGA is not possible).

took my laptop to the hp service center
any chance they wont detect the o/c?
and thus not void my warranty?

if you can remove all and everything to do with OC tools on your laptop, and reset the clocks you might have a hope, but if they boot it and have a quick look for OC tools and/or have a tool for detecting abnormal clocks your in trouble.
