I got a dell e1705 with the 7900gs. just out of the blue it started crashing while playing games. then it escalated to doing it while web browsing. then it crashs to a bsod and it says the error is caused by nvmdkkdkm.sys or whatever its called. Im running vista. I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest drivers several times. I called dell support and they could not help me. After it crashes it will not boot up it freezes then after a while i get a bsod. I dont know what to do anymore and i dont feel like doing a full pc restore and erasing all my data.

It sounds like overheating... Or maybe the card is dying... Can you try cleaning the vents with compressed air?

I'm still running XP on mine so it may help to post in the Dell forum; we need more info to go on.

...yes possible heat problem. See if you can set up I8kfan to monitor your GPU temps and fan. Your 7900 will slow protect at 100C so don't know why that would crash you. Have you over clocked?

If BSOD while just surfing..how long did you have Vista installed before first BSOD? Which nVidia driver version did you install? Any changes to hardware? Did Dell furnish you the chip set drivers for Vista? Sorry, can't be more specific until we know more. Please write down your specific errors if possible.
