I had the urge to hook up my m1710 to a big screen television. The only accessible input are the Red White and Yellow composite inputs, so that's how I connected. If this display is only on the television, I can't see ANYTHING in bf2142. If i set it to display on both the laptop and television, it looks fine on the laptop but you can only see a quarter of the screen or so on the television. How can I fix this so I can play it appropriately on my TV?

I assume you have the 7900gtx or 7900gs in you laptop, so I'm going to suggest you take a look in your nvidia control panel (accessible via the control panel). You should find what you are looking for in there in order of options to fix this problem and documentation on what you need to do. Are you sure there is no S-video? That would make things a LOT easier on yourself.
