"hl2.exe stopped working"

Hi, is there a way to delay the time when vista checks if a program is responding or not because whenever I launch tf2, there is a black screen pause between the valve head and the apparition of the game menu but vista almost always kick me back to the desktop saying the program as stopped responding or whatnot, and I have to use the swith to button in the task manager to get back in the game....

 

Same thing happened to me when i was under vista, tried compaitability and everything but didnt work. same error that you are getting.

 

I sometimes get it when i exit the game or try to change the screen res in a map. It's probably a driver error but nothing worth switching from an otherwise perfectly working driver imo.

 

I get that error, too, every time I quit the game - obviously not a major problem for me, though yours seems more irksome. What drivers are you using? I concur that it seems like a driver issue.

What bugs me is sometimes I get a black screen and a flickering cursor before the game loads... That gets annoying.

 

i WISH i only got this when i exited the game. instead i get it right after "sending client info" and the welcome screen comes up for the server. the game freezes and the sound loops over and over. then i have to ctrl+alt+del and end the game this happens like 50-75% of the time and it doesn't matter what server it is or anything. anyone else have something like this or know how i'd remedy it? someone told me its norton antivirus and that i'd need to fully uninstall norton.

any suggestions? thanks
