hey i got a wife that does not like gaming and i like to game. So i would love if she started to game as well. she is however a webdesigner and programmer and says gaming is for kids![]()
I would love to play an mmorpg with her or something hehe u guys have any tips?
-
Easy Method.
#1, buy a Wii.
#2, play Wii sports with your wife.
The Wii is the new gateway drug/game.
Hard Method.
#1, buy an MMO such as World of Warcraft
#2, coax her into playing the game
#3, watch as she overtakes all of your characters and shames you
#4, watch your wife disappear
As for the "gaming is for kids" statement. Ouch. Not anymore. When she was a kid gaming was for kids, now those kids grew up, and while they stopped watching ninja turtles and playing with Tonka Trucks, they kept on gaming.
Heck, listen to a GFW or PCGamer podcast, gamers are adults! -
You could always try finding a game that appeals to her, but good luck. I've been gaming on PC's and consoles since I can't remember when, and I have yet to get my wife to play anything other than Freecell, Spider Solitaire, or ZUMA. Nothing I have is of interest to her.
-
thanks for a great tip ill try the hard one first
hehe yes scorp i know what u mean, the closest my wife gets to gaming is testing the games on our arcade sites to see of they work hehe -
You got yourself in quite a pickle dick! Lmao!!
-
try sports. girls love sports. they just wont admit because most suck at it. but they do seem to enjoy it.
-
Are there any games with dolphins and unicorns and bunnies?
-
that sucks..lol..lucky for my hubby we both loved to play games..but thats just me hehe. I also like doing webdesigning too though..haven't done any in a long time though. anyhoo..can you think of any game that would appeal to her at all? there's gotta be something out there...even if its xbox or pc or playstation or wii...and i take it seems she's not into gaming she's not going to be into the more "gore" or shooting games if you know what i mean..have her try Mario or something..or you could always try making a deal...she tries gaming with you and you do something with her in return..or maybe introduce her to other women you know who like to game..show her how fun it can be..anyways good luck!
what websites has she designed..just out of curiosity> -
there are alots of girls that rule at sports and rule at gaming! -
I am fortunate to have a girlfriend that likes to play games.
She takes over my notebook occasionally to play Oblivion.
We like to play other games together like:
- MMORPGs... try the free ones first ( here)
- RTS... Battle for Middle-Earth (1 & 2)
- FPS... PORTAL
- Console... multiplayer games that are co-op (like Dynasty Warriors)
70% of casual gamers are women... so usually casual games (like puzzles and rpg's) are the key. -
Good luck. Maybe the younger generation of women (i.e. under 25 years old) enjoy gaming more, but my wife won't play anything more complicated than Ms. Pacman or FlipWords.

yeah my wife is just 20 but still hehe

Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
My wife likes adventure games on the PS2. On the PC it's all solitaire and freecell - LOL. Anyways... she has played Sly Cooper 1,2,3 and Kingdom Hearts 1&2 and has shown some interest in Tomb Raider Anniversary. We are in our 30s. We don't really game together because they are all SP games. I doubt she'd go for WOW? Oh wait... she also liked The Operative on PS2 as well. So pretty much anything cartoony or features a female as the hero and she's in!
-
i'm a 22 year old stay at home mom...but i've seen women who are in their 30's who like to game..not many but there are..anyways...maybe have her try a stab at mario at first..or something..or who knows have her play Halo..as popular as that game is..who knows..good luck
-
If there was a game that had amazon women ruling over men (and dolphins, unicorns and bunnies) they would love that.
-
actually my wife enjoy Sims 2 she played that and made me and her in the game, when she got pregnant in the game an born a baby she stopped play though.
I guess i can trick her to play WOW if i make her a really sexy female characterill try
-
If you have a PS2, the following games are a must for hardcore and casual gamers (women):
- Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2
- Okami
- God of War 1 and 2
- Final Fantasy X and XII
- Prince of Persia (series)
- Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil ... very cutesy, but good game
- The Sims (series)
For PC, most casual gamers like:
- The Sims (series)
... other simulation games like Rollercoaster Tycoon -
yes my wife love the FF7 movie. Maybe she can play FFX
-
why not play the original FF7 as well ... its still bad-ass.

God of War has simple gameplay and a very good storyline.
My girlfriend (shes 22) likes these kinds of games. -
original ff7 is nice but the graphic makes me puke

WoW actually worked for my wife. It didn't even have to be a sexy character. We both played undead. She thought it was hilarious. I actually started her on diablo II when we were dating. I gave her a pre-started character to play with at first so she could see how fun it is after you get over the hump of starting. She is actually very good at it.
One of the most important parts to convincing her to game is actually doing it with her. By that I don't mean have another char that is playing with her char. Sit next to her and give her a hint if she needs it while she is playing solo and give her encouragement when she really starts slaughtering the opposition. Oh, and most importantly never touch the mouse or keypad while she is playing. its a sure way to piss a woman off.
Good luck Satyrion -
On the flip side she could get so good at gaming she'll kick your ass everytime
Just try some light and easy games to start her off. Doesn't help to throw a newbie in a difficult or demanding game. If they keep losing they don't want to play anymore. -
i like games like halo and some of the more "gory" games.but thats just me. as far as some of the games mentioned above..i never really got into. I do like counterstrike too. i never got into SIMS at all though..i don't care to much for those. i like action, some rpg's...like oblivion..it can end up being any game in any category..i guess its whatever floats your boat.
does anyone here still play the halo games?
hey OP which games do you have and for what console(s) -
i installed WOW for her now and she is testing it, she took off all the armor on m char though... and sold it...because she say my char look better with clothes.... there went my 5 months of hardcore raiding to pieces....guess ill try the Wii instead...

the wii is the best idea ever (my wife actually bought mine for me as a surprise)
my wife started on Theme Park and Theme Hospital (as well as freecell and mahjongg etc) she also liked puzzle bobble (multiplayer only) then she did some sims, and every so often find a web game that she gets temporarily addicted to (facebook fluff friends.........aaaarrrggghhh)
anyway, the wii is the most successful yet (along with buzz on ps2)
basically the wife likes shorter multiplayer games that can be played when drunk
its all about letting her find what she likes, but encourage her to lookespecially if she is sat bored while you are making her a warcraft widow

I read an article that said that studies showed men get more satisfaction from video games than women. They're hopeless.
-
I remember I got ym girl into UT3 or atleast tried, it wasn't pretty. She left a little weird as she wasn't used to it but wants to return to it on her laptop (uses a X3100 so installed UT2004 on it) so she can shame me one day
, weird woman.

You've got to start small...
Move her from Solitaire to something like... The Sims.
Then, again, another small step.
This is the key. Small steps.
We have an expression: "Slowly, slowly, catchey monkey."
Soon she'll be fragging you, and laughing with the rest of your mates about how much you suck. -

its about making sure you dont leave your other half out of things.
so if you are gaming , try to play in the same room and keep chatting
my wife does however tell me to put headphones on on tf2
then again there is me and our youngest (18) playing online K-aaabuuuuum!

My partner isn't huge on gaming butI'm not going to start trying to convert anyone.... I find plenty of things to do with my other half, I game when I want me time.
I am a girl who likes pc games but then I generally like girly ones so... -
Games are for girls... if you can find which genre they are more likely to enjoy.
In my younger sister's case, I turned her onto console emu's, RTS, puzzle, and games like Worms.
To this day, I do not dare to go up against her in Red Alert 2, NeoGeo puzzle games (Bust-A-Move, Magical Drop, etc...), and Worms.
She may be 8 years younger than me, but she is way too good... she cant wait for the upcoming Red Alert 3.
P.S. She actually played and beat Portal... which was a surprise since she does not seem to like playing FPS's. -
i don't get why you'd want your girl to play games. i don't find gamer girls attractive lol (yes, that means speaking for myself, so don't take offense). they need to bring something i can't already do with guys.

Yeah girly games help, like mmorpgs with female characters... I tend to only really play WoW, the sims 2 and raven shield these days. -
The girls are pretty cool and attractive... I do not want a pretty, yet stupid girl that only cares about vanity. A girl should be independent and smart... and a plus when they let out the geeks within themselves (to watch Anime, enjoy gaming, etc..).
Gamer girls (which are usually Anime girls as well) are amazing to talk to... especially if you are a shy geeky guy... which I have to admit that I was back in high school and such. -
-
ohh and she really loves anime as well hehe especially the girly animes like Peach Girl etc. she even got her own anime video site lol
how can i get my wife to enjoy gaming?
