somehow i flashed a 1be1 bios onto a 1ba1 card. I have tried several versions of nvflash. i can over ride the sub id but not the device id. When trying to flash using -6 -o it tells me that i cannot preform this actrion on the eeprom in write mode.
Any suggestions.

You may have to use an SPI programmer. Software flashing became more restrictive with Pascal and even more so with Turing.

Any advice on how to keep from using an spi? Could i edit the registry to have the card say its a 1ba1, then flash the vbios?
if so where in the registry would i change the values?Last edited: Feb 3, 2020 -
Editing the registry will not change information that NVFLASH pulls directly from the hardware. NVFLASH doesn't read from the Windows registry as far as I know. If you haven't already, you might want to investigate if there is a DOS version. If you get the same result, that will be absolute confirmation that the registry has nothing to do with NVFLASH.

You should really consider SPI flashing. The programmers, alligator clips and 1.8V adapters are not expensive, and it eliminates all of the firmware signing idiocy. If you flash firmware that bricks the GPU, you force the original firmware onto the chip with the programmer. No nonsense and you'll never need to care about whether or not NVFLASH works, or worry about bricking the GPU with a bad flash or wrong firmware.
You can do the same thing with the motherboard's BIOS (all of which require now a valid signature for flashing). Now that I am used to using an SPI "sledgehammer" I actually prefer that approach. The manufacturer no longer has any say in what firmware I use and the liberty they choose to take as a Nazi control freak no longer affects me. It's none of there business anyhow--never has been, and never will be--but I love the liberty of doing whatever I want to do without their approval.
The exception is the systems with BIOS Guard. You cannot flash the firmware on the motherboards that use that Gestapo filth because the BIOS is protected by firmware cancer on the PCH chip.Last edited: Feb 3, 2020 -
