how much more battey life do u get with the 85Whr Lithium Ion Battery (9 cell) compared to the 53Whr when gaming and at idle??
-
We'd need to know the specs, make, and model of the notebook you're referring to.
Notebook models can vary so very easily in battery life even with similar specs. -

i can give you a percentage that should hold true regardless of what you are doing.
increase in battery life by 60.377358491%, give or take a percent or two.
we can just call it about a 60% increase in time.
so at idle if you had 4:00 hours, you now have a few minutes under 6:30. at load if you had 1:30, you now have a few minutes under 2:30.
but i don't know how long you have at idle or load with the original battery, so... -
That's not necessarily true, because you don't know if the original battery had the same Whrs per cell. For example, in an HP you can get a high capacity 6cell, and upgrading from that to a 9cell wouldn't give you a 60% increase.

he listed the rated watt hours on each battery

Well, it sounds like the batteries he is talking about are from Dell, so I am guessing it is the 1520 or 1420 (1500 or 1400 vostro)
I have a 1400, and with the 9 cell I get around 4 1/2 hours surfing the internet and doing generally light stuff. (this is with a dedicated card)
The one time I gamed on the battery I got a little under two hours on it.
