Hi everybody i saw in the exelent johnksss'review on GTX 880M that the card works better disabling GPU boost.
My question is simple can someone post a nice and clear tuto how to do that safely for a non expert like me.

You`ll need to edit the vbios that control your video card. There is no easy way to do that.
Try Techinferno forum and ask around if such edited vbios exist or if anyone there are willing to do it for you

hey , thanks for your reply, i didn't expect that to be so hard, i heard we could do that by using both nvidia inspector and EVGA, but the tuto weren't clear enought for me and it was about desktop graphic card.

The only problem you will have is a massive brick.. I wouldn't suggest that idea at all...

My question about this is, WHY did Nvidia do this in the first place?
Was it intentional or by accident?
In either case, does anyone here think that Nvidia will at some point offer an update to rectify this issue in the near future?
From what I have gathered from Johnksss, the 880m of which I now own, seems to be "gimped" on purpose by Nvidia, and the only way around this, is to use a modified VBIOS to fix the "gimping" problem.
This is too risky for me, as I just got my new Sager, and will NOT want to void my extended warranty that I paid extra for.

Anyone have any thoughts on this and what to expect in the near future from Nvidia?

It's "gimped" to 100-110W, the unlocking simply lets the core go further.

Nope... never. GTX 680M, 780M and 880M are all crippled on purpose this way. The retards over at NVIDIA don't know how to write a good MXM vBIOS to save their souls. The only solution is to use the good firmware from svl7 and Johnksss or live with it working the way NVIDIA wants it to work... sucky.

The good news is, the modded vBIOS turns Kepler into a banshee and you won't care any more about how lousy the stock vBIOS is... it just won't matter any more.

    Gotcha. Thanks for the info.
However, I have to wonder just what benefit there would be to someone like me who won't OC his 880m, nor OV it either. I have never done this before, and don't plan it to. It's too risky for me, considering the potential to brick it and void the extended warranty that I have with my new Sager.

Is there any benefit to using the svl7 modded VBIOS if one isn't going to OC or OV an Nvidia Laptop?
It would appear to me that the svl7 is merely for those who want to OC/OV their systems.
    Correct?
Since I am not going to do any of that, is it still worth installing?

At stock clocks under heavy gaming the stock vbios will throttle to keep board power below 110W, the svl7 bios increases the power limit meaning at stock it wont throttle (but will obviously still run hotter).

NO! It very clearly says it is for the 8gb version only. I have read that you must put in a request in this section-

BIOS / VBIOS modification request thread (svl7) In General Notebook Discussion on the TechInferno forums. I don't know if I can post links here.
